    Why was Texas +173?

    I am completely baffled by some of these baseball lines.

    Where do oddsmakers get these numbers? What are they basing it on? I understand why Boston was favored, but -190? Seriously?

    Why not? Texas is 18-23. Boston is 19-22. Not like it was a 30-11 team against an 11-30 opponent. Line was just plain absurd.

    Since when does record matter?

    Milwaukee is favored over Atlanta tonight and Cleveland is like -175 against the Reds?

    Using that logic the Braves and Reds are easy money tonight. Are you playing them because of the absurd lines?

    My whole point is that it's easy to say after the fact. We both thought the line was absurd yet neither of us played Texas.

    Agree, but I also posted this when it was 2-0 in the 3rd inning. The live line on Texas at the time was still just -110. I had a hard time believing books could be off by 50 cents -- I had Red Sox -140 -- but from now on, I guess I take the free money when it's offered.

    The only reason we didn't play Texas last night was BC Boston was -190 when they should have been like -150.

    Maybe the books knew what they were doing as it scared some of us away.
