so in baseball, does the "take the team who had their coach fired in the next game" theory apply?

I honestly think Gibbons is the worse in terms of strategic planning.

And yet there are idiots here that think managers are the be all end all.

they should just dissolve that pathetic franchise while at it, along with the Bucks.

couldn't imagine living in the shit hole known as Milwaukee surrounded by the dregs of society. why are there pro teams still there?

good question, Tex...I guess it all depends on the players felt about their former coach vs. who they are bringing in or who the interim coach will be.

Early pole position belongs to the cardinals. Might as well fire Francona too, his team is in last place too

    Nash,
We've had this discussion before...I'm somewhere in the middle...Managers are definitely not the be all, end all but I do think that there certainly is a profound difference between good/great managers vs. bad/horrible ones...Sparky Anderson, Tony LaRussa, Joe Torre, Jim Leyland, Tom Lasorda, etc. have always won everywhere they went or been regardless of players, talent, etc...I can't but help to think that if Torre or LaRussa were managing those Braves teams of the 90's with Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine (three HOF'ers in the starting rotation!!) that Atlanta would have won at least 5 world series titles during that era of dominance...but sorry ass Bobby Cox (who the players loved and was considered a players coach) only won one title.

Cards do have the most talent.

I remember the Brewers used to be pretty good in baseball but it's been all downhill for the most part and I think this is a franchise going nowhere moving forward

They have a lot of valuable pieces to move and replenish the farm. Look for this team to make some noise in about 3-5 years.

Carlos Gomez on a club friendly contract will generate a lot of interest

Jonathan lucroy on a club friendly contract will generate a lot of interest

Kyle lohse will be dealt to a team needing a solid man to round out their rotation

    Matt garza could be dealt

Gerardo parra could be worth something in a trade for a team needing an outfielder

Brewers bullpen has a bunch of decent arms that could generate interest.

Aramis Ramirez has one year left and has announced he will retire. He could generate some interest and will likely want to compete for a ring in his final year.

Wily penalta and jimmy Nelson could be a decent foundation for a future rotation. I hope they hold onto these guys.

Jury is out on scooter gennet and jean segura. segura showed what he is capable of 2 years ago but has been inconsistent over the last 1.5 years. These two guys could be a solid basis for the future.

Ryan Braun is on a big contract for the next 5 years Which could be painful if his success was really due to juicing and if he can't stay healthy. This is a major concern.

I like the future for the Brewers, but it is going to be a rocky 2-3 years for sure.
