Odds Manny Ramirez plays in a Major league game this year?

No matter how much of a fukkup this guy has been, I always seem to root for him.
I always loved him as a player.

His steroid use was the same as everyone back in the Mcgwire-Sosa-Bonds era, he just kept on going with it a little longer after MLB tightened the screws.

For some reason, I feel like he may swing a bat with a team in the big leagues before this season is over.
Cubs insist he has ZERO chance to do it with them BUT the Cubs suck, why not bring him up in September?

Here's his 2nd game with the triple-A Cubs team tonight.
Note not only did he hit a HR, but he STILL has opposite field gap power. When guys age, they lose that feature a lot. Looks like he still has it.

Cubs have already said he has zero chance of joining the big club, no matter how well he hits at Iowa.

    Next thread.

For some reason, I always liked him, too. He is a 12 year old kid in a 40 year old body. Literally could play in a World Series elimination game and not give a shit, that's what made him so good.

One of my favourite hitters of all time....Manny being Manny pissed me off sometimes, because I am a gamer at heart.....but his swing is still such a thing of beauty.

So the Cubs say there is zero chance, and your question is, odds on him being back in the majors?

Yeah, because the Cubs can't change their mind or another team can't pick him up after asking the cubs to release him.

    Why not call him up?

Doing so takes up a spot to evaluate a future prospect.

Having said that man-ram is awesome.

He'll always be a Cleveland Indian to me damnit.

NC, all he has to do is ask for his release...this happens in these instances all the time. If any team sniffs, he is out of there and on somebodies roster.

It may happen if he rakes

Extreme long shot he'll end up on a big league roster of another club.

Cubs aren't calling him up though.

If he wants to have a future as a coach/manager in this game, he'll stick with Iowa, prove himself and work his way up.

    Manny still has it.

Somebody will trade for him if the Cubs dont call him up.

Possibly the SF Giants, they desperately need some power in that weak ass line-up.

Manny won't ask for a release. It would be the end it his baseball career. The reason he even got this chance was his steadfast assurance he has changed.

He knows the stipulations to his situation, and he isn't going to rock the boat, no matter how well he does in the minors.

He will he another Pedro Martinez 5 years from now, tutoring young players.

0% chance he plays in the majors.

Guess we will have to see if he keeps cracking hr's or not.
I don't care what any team officials say.
If a guy is hitting, he will get a chance.

I already have said it multiple times this year the Mets could have given him a chance lol.
How much worse can it be than Granderson, Chris Young, and whatever bag of shit they put in the other outfield spot?
    Manny would sell tickets also.

Benny, here is the thing. The steroid use will haunt him. Let's say he keeps hitting HR's in the minors.

What team is going to take a shot in him with the allusion all his power is coming from possible PED use?

No contending team is going to trade for him.

No pretending team is going to bring him in either. He won't put asses in seats anywhere.

    Bullshit.

    Nobody cares about steroids.

Melky Cabrerra was welcomed back with open arms.

Steroids no longer issues in MLB.
There would be teams that could sell some tickets bringing him up.
Plenty of latinos in NY that would go to Met games to see Manny.
The Rays can use ANYONE in that lineup and could also help attendence there too, even if it would be a small percentage.
    Marlins and Astros as well.
I'd still pay to see him play.
It wouldn't be a contender in all likelihood.

Meanwhile, Kris Bryant hit a grand slam with 2 outs in the 8th. Now that's a fukker to keep an eye on. He's going to be an elite slugger in MLB very soon.

Let's get this straight: if Raul Ibanez can get signed to a Major League contract and Manny Ramirez is in Iowa, Manny Ramirez is not coming back to the bigs.

Manny is a player-coach and is only playing 2-3 times per week. Here's there basically as a mentor. I think he wants to see if he can make a run at a roster next season, not this one.

I think he's probably broke and he believes he can make a living from here on out by getting into coaching/managing. From everything I've read, the MLB return is a total pipe dream -- at best.

I'd compare his situation at Iowa to Rasheed Wallace's in Detroit re: why he's there.

Because Giambi has never been a clubhouse cancer.

Why would ANY team want an aging player that can't play defense and most likely will flake out at some point?

Why have him on a roster when you can bring up a younger guy and see his talents?

It doesn't make any sense for any team to trade for him. Absolutely none.

Before someone says he will sell tickets, what team has a fan base that will pay $$ to see him DH? Not one team.
