Why are pitchers this generation getting injured more?

It's absolutely puzzling. They throw way less innings than generations before yet are getting injured at an alarming rate. We have technology....Science....Training/new age workouts on our side....3 key factors, yet the injuries keep pilling up.

Does anyone even have a guess?

More sliders, more cutters. A lot of torque on the elbow to finish both pitches. Splits aren't great for the elbow either. A lot less shoulder injuries because all the torque to finish these late moving pitches finish through the elbow

Interesting theory I heard on a sport talk show. In the minors young pitchers especially the top prospects are not going deep into games like they used to. They are pulled in the 4th 5th or 6th in an effort to protect their arms.

Then they get to the majors and they are pushed. Especially if a team if in a playoff hunt. (Unless the pitcher is named Stephen Strasburg). Now they are going 7 and 8 innings but their arms aren't conditioned for it. And we're seeing the results.

Who knows, might be something to it. Makes as much sense as any other theory out there.

Do you remember when we were kids , if you played baseball growing up they didn't want you throwing curves and they didn't throw you every weekend , if you pitched when you were little they made sure you didn't over do anything .... flash forward 20 years and kids are throwing sliders , hard curves , throwing the ball harder than ever from a young age , these kids are throwing and harder starting at a young age ..... thats the problem

Steroids causing them to break down studs back in the day were never throwing as hard as they are today.
