YTD 3-1 (+8 units)
Nice start to the 2014 MLB forum postings...
TUESDAY 4/8:
2 bets for tonight...
#1: Rays (Archer) @ Royals (Ventura)
RAYS -120 for 3 units
#2: Tigers (Scherzer) @ Dodgers (Haren)
TIGERS -130 for 4 units
First of all, Yordano Ventura is making his season debut. He got skipped last week because of a rain-out and hasn't pitched in 10 days. His last start of Spring Training, he got roughed up in three innings of work (although he did have a very good spring). I think the hype train is running wild on this guy and it will be quite a lot of pressure for him to live up to the high expectations in his first start, especially vs a hungry, solid Rays lineup. The Royals won the opener today and the Rays bats didn't wake up until the end of the game, when it was already too late. I just don't see the Royals winning two in a row in this spot, especially facing Chris Archer. He's a stud, plain and simple. Very underrated. Current Royals own a collective .238 average vs Archer in 21 at bats with 0 home runs.
You won't find Max Scherzer around -130 that many times this season, so I'm pouncing on it. Dodgers own a collective .189 career average vs Scherzer. Take a look at these Dodgers career stats vs Mad Max:
Matt Kemp 0/16 .000 avg
A. Gonzalez 3/17 .176 avg
Dee Gordon 1/4 .250 avg
Hanley 0/3 .000 avg
Juan Uribe 1/7 .143 avg
C. Crawford 3/9 .333 avg
A. Ethier 6/15 .400 avg 1 HR
Dodgers counter with Dan Haren. He pitched 6 shutout innings in his debut last week, but it was against the Padres at Petco so take it with a grain of salt. The Tigers offense is just a weeeeeee bit better than the Padres and Dan Haren is (dare I say) washed up, so I love the -130 price here.
Lets keep this run goin boys and girls!
