2u Z. Johnson (-125) over Stricker;
*Johnson not a long hitter but his driving accuracy is #4 in world. Plus he is a top 25 putter and two other stats that I like. He's 11th in getting up and down from anywhere and ranks #5 for scoring avg 1st rd of tournaments. Johnson also has a 70.4 scoring avg L5 1st rds at Augusta compared to Stricker who's scoring avg is 72.2 L5 1st rds.
2u Moore (-140) over Bjorn;
*Moore has never shot worse than par during 1st rd of Masters. On the other hand, Bjorn has never broken par 1st rd of the Masters. Moore is ranked #1 in scoring avg 1st rd of tournaments. Not a long hitter but keeps it in the short grass. IMO total mismatch and would be playing it for more if not for the -140 odds.
2u Kuchar (-150) over Oosthuzien;
*Besides Couples & Westwood; Kuchar has played as good if not better than anyone 1st rd. 69.25 stroke avg L4 years compared to Oosthuzien who's scoring avg is 73.
1u Matsuyama (+110) over Snedeker
1u D. Johnson (+102) over Day
1u Garcia (-120) over Watson
Special upset pick:
2u Olazabal (+120) over Glover;
*Glover has been terrible at Augusta. 1st rd scoring avg 75 L4 Masters. Plus I don't like any of Glover's recents stats. Enough said!
A few others still under consideration: Schwartzel (-120) is 2.5 strokes better than Furyk in the 1st rd L4 years. Additionally, Furyk's flatstick is not as good anymore but he does drive it straight and is one of the best scramblers in the world. Statwise, McDowell (-130) is head & shoulders above Fowler but I cant pull the trigger. McDowell's scoring avg (L4 1st rds) at Augusta is 74.25 compared to Fowler who's stroking it aroundtheAugusta at 70.66 in the 1st rd. Couples (+105) at plus odds in a 1st rd head to head is always a good play. He's getting around in 69.25 his L4 1st rds at Augusta. Simpson has only played L2 Masters so smaller sample size.
Finally, as a Bulldog, I'd love to get me some of Harris English (-110) over Westwood. Why is Westwood not a big favorite in this matchup. This is English's first Masters appearance and Westwood seems to always be in contention until back nine on Sunday. English has already picked up 2 wins on tour. Even though this is his first Masters, it's only Thursday so while he may be nervous, he should hold up and post a decent number. I do like English's length off the tee and he leads tour in birdies on par 5s. More I think about it, I may have to add this one.
Good luck boyz.
