    SBR Baseball Handicapping Contest 2007

Thanks to the folks that I’ve talked to recently for their input on a bases contest. We had some good, fun ideas (Dawg of the Day, for example). We took it all in and have come up with the following.

    1) Month-by-Month contest, beginning in April and running through July, 2007.

    2) Moneyline and Total bets only.

    3) Minimum 20 plays per month to be eligible for the monthly prize; Maximum 30 plays per month. Maximum three plays per day. All plays will be graded as one unit wagers.

    4) Lines will be posted from 5Dimes, and once posted the lines will not be adjusted. All bets have action regardless of changes in starting pitcher(s). Every effort will be made to post the lines by 11:00 a.m. (ET) Monday-Friday, and by 9:00 a.m. (ET) on Saturday and Sunday.

    5) A post made is a bet laid. All edited posts will be graded as a loss. All past post (picks made after listed start time of game) will be graded no action. The official clock is the time posted on the play here at SBR.

    6) A prize or choice of prizes will be awarded to the player with the most units won during the month. All prizes for the next month will be posted by the 28th of the preceding month. In addition to the monthly grand prize, the top three (3) winners each month will each receive an SBR shirt. In case of a tie resulting in more than three winners, all who finish in first, second and third for the month shall receive a shirt.

    7) In case of a tie for the month’s grand prize, a ‘sudden death’ tiebreaker will take place beginning on the first day of the following month, action permitting. All players tied will make one moneyline pick per day until the tie is broken, each player MUST make a play on the first day of the month, any and all action permitting, and any player in the tiebreaker who does not post a play on the first day of the following month shall be deemed out of the tiebreaker process. Tiebreaker plays will NOT count towards the next month’s contest.

    8) While all SBR members are eligible to play, the following restrictions for prizes apply:

    a) No employee of SBR is eligible for any prize or prizes. In the event that an SBR employee finishes a month with a bankroll that would qualify for a prize, the player with the next highest eligible bankroll shall be deemed the winner.

    b) Monthly winners with less than 50 posts at time of prize announcement will receive a half-prize (example, half the value of the top prize gift certificate). Posters with 50+ posts will receive the full prize or choice of prizes as listed before the month begins.

    c) All contestants must be 18 years or older. Entries limited to one per household and one per IP address.

    9) Check your selections carefully before posting. The rules stated above regarding edited/past posting will be strictly enforced. SBR may deny entry or prizes for any contestant without cause and rules may be modified without prior notice.

For April, the grand prize is a $250 Gift Certificate at the MLB.com shop OR a 19” flat screen monitor. Contest begins this Sunday with the initial Mets-Cardinals game that kicks off the MLB Season. And all plays will be posted in the CONTEST FORUM. Good luck to all, and above all else, have fun.

From this point on, the contest lines will be posted and all wins/losses will be graded by SBR member LT Profits. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to both myself and LT

We've made a major change to this little section. Ganchrow will set things up for the lines to be autoposted, hopefully just after midnight (ET). Should give all of the night owls a better chance to play. Thanks, Ganch
