    huh?

He'll get paid significantly less for 2014 unless he signs an extension at some point, i'm not sure what the minimum is now but i'm sure he gets around 450-550k per year until he is arb eligible.

of course the Angels will offer him 25+ million a year to extend him.

but the pressure isn't on yet, they still got 3 or 4 years of control left?

I hope he doesnt get an extension this year.

The Angels saw what happened with pujols and hamilton after they got big deals they got lazy.

Gotta keep this kid hungry for max production

    Just heard it on radio

    largest pre Arbitrstion pay ever

guess just a good will gesture from A's to give him an extra 400k when they didn't have to

An extension would save the Angels big money. You give him guaranteed money and you pay him less. If they don't extend him, he'll make good money in arbitration and then his FA contract will pay him through the roof.

Wow... I didn't think Trout even hit .300 last year but he did... .323

Didn't he start off kinda cold??? Could of swore he was only hitting in the .270's at one point.

Trout will never be a free agent in the next 10 years and possibly his whole career if he performs like he has outta the gate.

Yeah he did start out cold I believe, he was catching some haters in the first couple months.

Trout will be signed before opening day to 6 years 150 mill.
No way he's going to play another MLB game without a contract.
Angels are not that kind of team either.
They will give him what he deserves instead of losing him down the road.
This is one of those players you want to be the face of your team for his whole career.
Unlike paying bags of shit like Poop-holes and Hamilstains 400 million to be scrubs.

It's entirely up to Trout, not the Angels. Maybe he wants to go year by year and then get the biggest contract ever. I do think it would be hard to pass up a guaranteed 150 mil, but some would.

Considering they can have him for 3 years for probably like 10-15 mil that means they pay him 125+ for 3 years. No way. I think they'll sign him for more than 6 if they do this. At least 8. I would say more like 8/170.

They aren't going to get him for 3 years 15 mil, let alone 10. His last year of arbitration will be 15 mil alone. At least.

    Definitely not up to Trout.
The guy has been the best player in the league the last 2 years and got paid a combined 900k for it.
Angels have all the hand here.
He doesn't want to play another game without a payday.
    Arbitration is a last resort.
Playing for minimum wage is just plain stupid at this point.
Could tear an ACL and get napkins.
Both parties have to get a deal done.

He has no say in playing without an extension

what is he going to do? Fake an injury everyday?

    that would only hurt him

Definitely up to Trout. He's not a slave, he's an employee and can leave after 6 years if he wants, no matter how much money is thrown at him. A guy that good and that cocky just might go year by year. He'd be 26 and get a 12 year deal for 350 mil.

I bet Andrew McCutchen is jealous and wishes he hadn't signed that horrible (for him) extension a few years back.

I personally believe in dealing with long term winning/losing contacts... it's all about your agent. How good is he? Etc. You can name a sh#$load of long term horrible contracts in which the player never produced for the team. But, you can't really name a contract in which the owner won long term... from a production standpoint... can you?

Again, your agent is suppose to be intelligent enough to get you the biggest deal ever of your career. If you happened to get 2 of the biggest deals of your career... it's because you produced. But every athlete's goal is just getting that 1 solid deal in your lifetime. Once you get it... you're set. Sort of like Tony Romo. Horrible deal. Horrible horrible horrible. If you want to slip an athlete some money on the side and say thank you... go ahead. But all Romo's contract was.... a nice thank you for all your efforts. If you can't see he's deteriorating you are blind.

Normally players not on roids are hitting free agency after their peak.

trout should be still good for another half decade after he hits free agency if he does not get an extension
