apparently Buster Onley of ESPN thinks the Padres might surprise everyone and make the playoffs.

signed Seth Smith who was with the A's ... hes a nice platoon type player left handed hitter with some pop and they picked up Josh Joshnson who sucked donkey balls last year but was cy young caliber just a few years ago with the Marlins.. he will benifet from pitching in a pitcher friendly park

NL West will be very competitive The Dodgers are the most complete team by far though...

it wouldnt shock me if the Rockies won the division or finished in last place.

I still don't know how Oakland is doing what they are doing in the al west the lsst two years. Amazing. I don't even know who their manager is, but the results are off thd charts. Or texas and Anaheim suck.

The A's Skipper is Bob Melvin.

He is a good manager but made some really dumb decisions in the post season.

The A's get it done with depth, team chemistry, and unselfish team baseball.

They utilize every single player on the roster. The A's have a philosophy of changing their line-up
on a daily basis depending on if they are facing a RHP or LHP. All the A's players know and accept their roles.

They can play small ball but also they are consistently among the league leaders in HR's...

Brandon Moss is quietly becoming a super star. Last year he hit 30 dingers. Cespedes and Reddick are both expected to have huge seasons this year. Lowrie, Donaldson and Crisp are great hitters and Jaso is great at getting on base whether its a walk or a hit and the A's are great at running opposing pitchers pitch counts up by fouling off pitches and working deep into counts...

However the A's are built for the regular season not the post season and what i mean by that is
every day they run a starter out there that gives their club a chance to win however come playoff time they
always face the best of the best and they dont really have the individual talent of a Miguel Cabrrera or a Justin Verlander .... They just dont match up well in a series when they face elite pitchers like scherzer and verlander they dont have the offense to score off the elite pitchers...

The Tigers have owned them in the playoffs. But thats not to say this isnt their year...

A lot of the A's players are young and may be even better than ever this season.

and by the way the A's might have the best bullpen in the major leagues so that helps as well.

Think of how many teams loses games that they are either tied or winning going into the 7th inning on...
