MLB needs to fix the DH problem as soon as possible

Just crazy that the Red Sox are going to have to sit either Ortiz or Napoli over the next few games.

This is the World Series. A team's best player should not be sitting on the bench. Traditional minds would say get rid of the DH but it's been around so long that at this point I think you need to just extend it to the NL.

This is really pretty ridiculous and it's a problem that Major League Baseball needs to address. Now.

It would help nl teams in the final as well. Anyone but the pitcher batting.

I see it just the opposite....Make the AL play the tougher version of baseball...bunch of sissies.

    Defense, small ball, and pitching...

Yes pitching....You can always intentionally walk the Dh and take your chances....walking the pitcher in the 9 hole is trouble in the making.

You're absolutely correct, it needs to be fixed immediately!

The DH needs to be taken out of the game.

How in the world can you call someone the team's BEST PLAYER if they can't even play defense?

It's not a "problem" since the NL decided to not have the DH.

AL has to play by the NL rules when they go to their parks.

Maybe the Red Sox owner should get the NL to vote again before tonight.

u guys are out of your minds if you think Boston is out of their element playing NL style small ball, grinding out runs. they have been doin it all year. getting Ells and Victorino on...stealing bases, having hitters moving them over 90 feet, driving em in.

they are one of the best in the game at manufacturing runs.

Napoli is a catcher by trade. Put him behind the plate and Ortiz at first.

The DH in the WS is normally a disadvantage to the NL. NL teams don't have many 30 homer guys sitting on the bench. Their best players play defense too.

No. Not an automatic out. True, the average pitcher gets a hit about 13% which is about half of the major's average maybe around 27%.

There is this thing called strategy though. I know AL and NL teams will disagree whether strategy should be in baseball.

Napolis career was almost ended from surgerys from squatting behind the plate. it's the reason he was converted to a 1b and the reason his big contract fell apart and only got 1 year deal with Boston. he can not squat behind the plate. two bad hips.

When I hear the DH argument it makes me think of implementing NBA substitutions on the fly.

Offensive studs and defensive specialists can rotate while teams are in transition.

This way the cry babies don't have to complain about playing defense and the hard-nosed 'D' specialists don't have to worry about wasting space in the offensive zone.

DH won't be taken out of game. Less positions = less major league ballplayers earning 7-8 figure salaries. Common sense 101 here.

They won't get rid of the DH in the American League because AL team owners won't vote to do that.

They won't have a DH in the National League because NL team owners won't vote to have it.

Selig won't step in that mess.

The current system in the world series will continue, AL will continue to have DH throughout the year, and NL won't.

    DEAL WITH IT.

I'd love to see the batting average for Al pitchers vs. NL pitchers in World Series play. You'd think the NL average would be somewhat higher seeing as how NL pitchers hit all season long.

lol why? Have you seem NL pitchers at bat? All they do is bunt or strike out, it's penetrating disgraceful

NL pitchers should be taught how to hit properly or they shouldn't be batting at all
