    Adam Wainwright on Long Rest

Since Game 7 of the NLCS was not necessary, Wainwright will be pitching World Series Game 1 on 8 days rest having not pitched since an unlucky Game 3 loss to the Dodgers where he allowed only two runs in seven innings but received literally no run support while taking the 3-0 loss. Well...

In case you were wondering, Wainwright has made 12 starts this year on more than the customary four days rest combining the regular season and the playoffs, and in those starts, he has a 1.61 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 82 strikeouts vs. 16 walks in 95 innings, and four of his five Complete Games this year have come on extended rest!

Cardinals +113 Game 1 for me.

from the SBR article on the MLB main page:

St. Louis has dropped four of Wainwright’s last five starts with eight or more days of rest.

Boston has won 12 of Lester’s last 15 starts as a home favorite, while the ‘Under’ is 4-1 in his last five efforts at this venue against teams with a winning record.

Sports betting handicappers will find that the Cardinals are 2-11 in their last 13 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150.

Red sox for me. good luck to all

What book had +113 this morning? Best I can do is 5 Dimes. They were at +110 for a while and came to +112 earlier today.

Allen Craig is expected to DH tonight, BTW.

I actually played it a few days ago at DSI, but 5 Dimes had +113 at time I posted this and has +114 right now.

cards hit .238 this year vs. lefties in the reg season

cards hit .218 this year vs. lefties in the postseason

wainwright road/home splits are hugely different for this year and his whole career

when you struggle on the road, fenway isn't the place they'll go away....particularly in october

the best part people are arguing is how dangerous the cards will be with a dh....arent the sox used to playing teams with dh's? not to mention it's hard to think craig will be sharp

sox are an easy play here

oh you're right. I didn't realize they were offering reduced juice during normal hours.

Special for the World Series, I guess. Normally can only do it 11 PM-6 AM or whatever.

how quickly everyone forgets too that Boston just handled a trio of , Verlander, Scherzer and Sanchez (even tho Sanchez is shit)

Boston has seen great pitching all year long. nothing new. they find ways to GRIND out wins.

also Craig has been facing, what?, minor league pitching? simulated games? or just most likely just taking BP..

now he is just going to step into the World Series and pick up right were he left off, have his normal bat speed? pick the ball up right away off pitchers hand and transition smoothly right away into the game against top flight pitching?

    doubt it.

I can see facts to support leans in either direction. Boston ML and a very small RL play for me. I dont see the sox dropping game 1 at fenway.

as drinker pointed out cards dont hit lefties very well. against righties over .270. that is a huge discrepancy.
only thing that worries me is the boston offense looked like a shell of itself in the detroit series but that was just a result of amazing pitching by both clubs . ill take the bo sox in this one. ive seen wainwright pummeled by the cubs , sunday primetime baseball. boston has never seen wainwright . dont know if thats an advtage or disadvantage. still with the homefield, im taking boston.

Never Ever bet against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Makes no difference who the opposing pitcher is nor what team they are playing....

Wainwright has wetted his pants and so have done his teammates. Could not handle the pressure.

Shame, game over while haven't even started for real.

Should have been a double play on Ortiz to end the first!!!

I could swear he was the one who let the ball fall right in front of him.

No man, he was nervous right from the first pitch and got bases quickly loaded. His teammates were just worse. Only Carlos catch a positive highlight sofar.
