    Preseason Trivia - Feb 12

Stepping it up a notch with this one...

Who is the only switch-hitter to pinch-hit for another switch-hitter and crank a grand slam?

Both players are relatively well-known and this happened in the last 40 years.

Just a guess: Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada

    Not Bernie and Jorge.

    Neither switch-hitter is still active.

Yep Willie, this one is much harder than Perranoski!

I will guess Todd Hundley batting for Carl Everret. I do recall Hundley hitting a pinch-hit granny, but I am not sure who he batted for.

    Not Hundley/Everett.

Think 1970s. The switch-hitter who was pulled had over 300 career homers and the switch-hitter who took his place hit over 200 on his career.

Ted Simmons pinch-hitting for Reggie Smith in a Cardinal's game? (Circa mid-70's...)

    Stumpage sticks it...

June 23, 1975, Shea Stadium. Ted Simmons pinch-hits for Reggie Smith and slaps a slam in the 8th off Mets lefty Jon Matlack, on in relief of NY starter George Stone, for the only runs in a 4-0 Cardinals win.

    Good job, Stumpage
