If you ignored the records of these pitchers and just looked the numbers...Scherzer 9.88 K/9, 2.18 BB/9, 2.88 ERA, 2.73 FIP, 3.16 xFIP and 5.7 WAR. Great numbers no doubt but now look at Sale...9.54 K/9, 1.92 BB/9, 2.97 ERA, 3.09 FIP, 2.99 xFIP and 4.8 WAR. These pitchers are not that far apart, which gives White Sox inherent value with everything else being equal. Of course, everything else is not equal in a matchup of the best and worst offenses in the American League, but Sale has been just fine in his three starts vs. the Tigers this year going 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 25 strikeouts vs. five walks in 23.2 innings. White Sox +125 for me.
