History: He grew up in San Diego. The Cleveland Indians made him a 48th round draft pick out of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas in 2009. By 2011, he was released and spent a month-and-a-half in the Frontier League. The Yankees signed him and he pitched very well in Double-A and Triple-A in 2012. He was tremendous during the spring and stayed in major league camp until nearly the end.
His debut: At the end of April, he pitched three scoreless innings of relief against the Houston Astros. He kept the ball from his first strikeout and said he would either keep near his bed or give it to his father. He has not pitched since then.
Pitches: He has five pitches -- two types of fastballs (two- and four-seamer), a curve, a slider, a change-up and a cutter.
Scout's Take: Though Nuno has only impressed with the Yankees, a scout said that Nunez is likely a major league long man because there is a question if he can get through lineups more than once. Bear in mind, however, scouts have been wrong before.
Binder Take: Joe Girardi said because of Nuno's limited workload, he will only throw around 75 pitches.
