I've posted three Morrison Twists in the past month: The first two netted 73 units, but the third one imploded on day one and I abandoned it after losing 25 units. I wish I hadn't, since I did pursue the C bet on the White Sox and won back about 14 units. Since then I have had some solid days in baseball, winning consistently with unofficial Morrison plays in September. On Monday, there are 3 more unofficial Morrison plays set to launch, and like my previous Twists, I am looking to win at least 5 times within 3 plays, netting thirty $50 units in the process.
Unofficial JM Plays:
San Diego vs. Arizona
Houston at Cincinnati
Colorado at S.F. Giants
These are all pretty evenly matched teams, so it makes it even harder to find an edge in these series. One thing I am counting on is that none of the six teams will sweep their opponent. Or at least only one might get a sweep (Houston or San Diego seem like the best bets there).
San Diego vs. Arizona: This is the one series I am playing straight; chasing the Padres until they win one. San Diego is hot and Arizona is not. San Diego is home. San Diego has demonstrated a burning desire to not finish last in the NL West, and now they have a 3-game lead on the D'Backs that they surely don't want to relinquish. Arizona has a clear-cut pitching advantage in game 2. If the Padres win game 1, I'll jump on the D'Backs for game 2. If the Padres lose game one, I'll keep riding them through game 3.
Houston at Cincinnati: The Reds were rolling for a couple weeks before they lost 6 of 7 on the road. They are coming back home to face Houston, who have been playing great ball lately and seem to be in a good frame of mind. The Astros have Wandy and Oswalt on the mound in the first 2 games. I'm counting on them to win one of those, even though they face white-hot Branson Arroyo in game 1. This first game promises to be a pitching duel, and I'll put some $$$ on the under as well as on Houston.
Colorado at San Francisco: This is where the Twist comes into play in a big way. Unlike the four teams mentioned above, these guys really have something to play for. Colorado is the play, but the Giants are in a desperation situation, nearly out of the wild card race and needing a sweep against the Rockies to really get serious about the playoff race. They have their three aces on the mound in this series and they are at home, where they have been lights out all year, but shaky (2-4) on this particular homestand.
With 3 quality pitchers on the hill and their backs against the wall, I am betting against the system play on the first game of this series. Lincecum is pitching in game one and he has been money this season, even more so than his team mate/Cy Young candidate Matt Cain.
My Bets for Monday:
$350 to win 380 on San Diego ML -150 ($150) and RL +140 ($200)
$330 to win 275 on Houston ML -120
$370 to win 270 on San Francisco ML -180 (270) and RL +120 (100)
Unlike previous Twists, I don't see a good parlay to augment these picks, but I will hedge my bets with a counterplay parlay and jump on the Under in the Astros game.
Other Twists on the Twist:
$50 to win 232 on Colorado ML and Cincinnati ML
$330 to win 300 on Hou/Cin Under 7.5
For better or worse, the dice have been rolled!
