    Astros Epic K Pace

I'm not a big fan of Bovada, but they are the one book I know that has strikeout props for pitchers. I think you might be able to make a small fortune taking OVERs in every single Astros game. It wasn't a Yu Darvish thing. It wasn't a Rangers thing. It's an Asstros thing. They suck. Easy double digit K night on tap again. I think an auto play for any pitcher worth his salt on an over of anything at 7 or less.

Time to seriously think about investing. Straily already has 7 in 3 IP.

    4/5: 13 Ks total, Straily 11Ks in 6.2 IP

56 Ks now in 4 games. 2010 D-backs set the record with 1,529 Ks. Astros on pace to absolutely destroy that.

Astros will destroy it. Carter might set the MLB record this year. He looks totally lost but atleast I saw him get his first hit tonight.

    Switching leagues doesn't help.

Verlander and Weaver may hit 20k's per outting alone.

Might be the best race that Houston has to offer ... I thought Pena would run away with it. Actually, Wallace leads the pack with 11 Ks. Ankiel 9. Carter has 8. Pena 7. I thought Pena was a shoe-in for 200 Ks if he stayed healthy and in the starting lineup. They might sport at least two 200 K guys. D-backs only had Reynols over 200 the year they set the record. Reynolds record of 223 overall also seems likely to get smashed.

Maybe they can offer these odds at the SBR Book. Astros K leader.

I think Wallace is sent back down to the minors before he has a chance at 200. Ankiel will be leading the team with 6 home runs come the trade deadline and will be delt to the Giants for a benched minor leaguer

well its all about who can get the most PAs really; but no has mentioned Maxwell, who if given the ABs will outpace all of them - he Kd 114 time in just 352 PA last year, 202 in his 627 major league PA and he k'd in over 30% of his ABs at AAA.

Making a point to check it and post the line every day from Bovada when they have a K prop for an opposing pitcher. Tonight should be real interesting with Colon looking every bit a nob-PED pitcher in the Spring. Still this is a low, low number considering how terrible Houston has been against everyone so far. Will be eagerly watching the box score. Going to track these as long as I remember and see if the auto over play yields cashy goodness.

4/6: Bartolo Colon Total Ks Over 5.5 [-125]

If I could bet that I would in a heartbeat, he gets at least 7 if he goes 6 tonight

It's why I say it. Every sports book has its faults, but most books also have something another book doesn't have. This is one of the few things I like about Bovada.

4/7: Brett Anderson Total Ks Over 6 [-130]

This should have a much better shot today. Lefty & Anderson's stuff is pretty solid.

I think as yesterday showed, you do have to make sure the opposing pitcher has solid strikeout stuff ... but most rotations I think you're going to find 4/5 guys who have K stuff to whiff these baby bats. I would imagine in a given week if Houston played six games, this should hit better than 50% - but that's what we'll be tracking here.

How you have the time to research all these prop bets daily in a variety of sports is amazing.

Eh. I like looking at off-the-beaten path bets. Some like this can become cash cows (hopefully) and are just ones that you have to really look around to find at a book. They get smaller action too mostly, although the 3 pt. prop I used in the NBA where the overs were killing early got erased by almost every book until I found it again at a book. Bovada is the only book I think that has these K props and not that many people play there, so this one probably sticks around I hope.

5dimes had it for the 1est games, but they hardly have those props. I didn't jump on it, no idea why.

7 Ks in 5 IP. Winner, Winner. Houston is at Seattle to start the week, that will be interesting to watch because the three pitchers they catch are not heavy K guys.

10Ks for Anderson in just 6 IP. Joe Saunders tomorrow. Pretty far from a good K pitcher, but being a lefty against this team that cannot hit lefties, might be interested if the price is right. I am guessing it will probably be a 5.5 # without being juiced. If it's a flat 5, I feel like I would try that almost every time against this team regardless of the pitcher unless they were absolute ass. This team just has zero plate discipline.

    Finally another line posted.

4.12.13: Tommy Hanson Total Ks Over 6 [-130]
He dominated Houston in the NL albeit with some different batters faced. Should be a chance.

Seems like they've been a little more disciplined against starters lately. Still have been whiffing 8-10 per game, but seems like more have come against the pen. Hanson got beat up pretty good and not even close to 6 Ks.

Yeah this road trip has been legendary so far. The big difference lately seems to be Castro in the 3 hole. Since they slipped him in there in the 2nd game in the Seattle series, the offense has been clicking. He seems more confident in that spot and Altuve and Maxwell are getting on base regularly. Those two guys have been stud-like all things considered.
