Is there a must read Book for Handicapping Baseball?

Last season was the first time I tracked and capped bases. (besides a few spot plays over the years).

I went 50 % after over 600 plays and basically broke even, playing mostly dogs.

Just trying to learn as much as possible, love the sport and have always followed it.

But additional info I get my hands on I like to have in my toolbox.

Read the book 'Free Basing: A Successful Guide to Handicapping Major League Baseball' by 'R.J. Hinkle'. Amazon sells it for $9.99, or if you got that Kindle you can download it and read it off there.

Baseball betting is a marathon. Read stats, follow trends and trust your gut; you don't need a book.

Yeah...I consider your handicapping as "mindnumbing" as well

brocks advice: take the biggest fav on the board. Bet against the cubs in day games. Find a pitcher whos 1-6 even though his era is 2.32 and gets no run support and Rubberband the other team

Fade the Cubs every game is probably a good bet.

Buy one of these. Randomly throw 20 teams on every day. Blindfold yourself. Grab 3 darts. Throw darts. Make 1 unit plays on each team.

Do this all year and prob end up better than 90% of the free world.

Play underdogs and favorites on the runline (if they're + money). If you can handle a game winning by one, and you losing, you'll be fine. Long-term + money is better.

Use a book that offers 10 cent lines, anything above that is robbery. Your best bet is probably fivedimes.

    Lay off the smack.

    Good luck.

'Viller I've never listened to or read anything on the subject but my buddy used to swear by this podcast. I think it was The Betting Dork with Gill Alexander. My bro said lots of relevant stat work and I remember that 75% of the season team totals he mentioned they predicted hit in 2012.

I can't be 100% that was the right podcast. Unfortunately my buddy passed this past year. Check it out though.

LK- Fade Brock all season and you will make money. Baseball too much of a grind if you have a life outside of gambling. Plus it is extremely boring to watch. Find streaking teams, both winning and losing, and ride them out.

Fade Astros RL on the road. Tail the great teams RL at home, especially against the Astros and Twins of baseball (except Giants bc they don't normally blow out teams)

I totally disagree with above poster^. home favorites will cover less often since either there is no bottom 9th or they hit a walk off single or something and win by 1. MLB is a grind for me but I had a lot of success late last season when I started betting underdog RLs.

Anyone who thinks baseball is boring knows little about the game.

Take out first two weeks of season and last two weeks of the season Yanks only went 4 series last year without winning at least one game on the RL at home, same with the Tigers. Rangers only went 3 series. Nationals went 4.

Me thinks the strong teams at home, like what I said, win by several runs at home more often than occasionally. But then I'm using stats to make this claim.

Should be real easy to handicap which series to avoid to get a number like that down to 2 or 3. One of the series lost was a sweep at home to the Yanks which isn't too surprising although another loss was to the Twins.
