great question. I'd loved to see it in list form by franchise. I don't know of any though.

Bonilla's is pretty one of a kind, but you got tons of other teams that are paying players from salary dump trades

They got a lot of pieces in the farm, like Wheeler and such, give them a couple of years.

They'll finish fourth in the division this year.
The Mets do have a solid infield with Murphy, Ike and Wright.
The outfield might be the worst in MLB in a decade though.

    Check
    http://www.baseball-reference.com/
    or
    http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/

neither of these place will include deferred salaries due to player, which is why Bonilla is get hi 1.2M, but it will list salaries due to cut players or portions of salaries teams a paying to traded players.

Bonilla is also being paid by the Orioles. He was working for MLB, don't know if he still is. Wilpon thought he had a great deal to stretch out the one year salary to 25 years and deposited the money into an account with Madoff. That worked out really well.

I don't follow you, can you explain the Madoff piece again? did he really lose all the principal and the mets still have to pay all the principal AND this exorbitant interest? do the mets not have accountants?

Bonilla was owed 5.9M for 2000. He agreed to defer his money to 2011, and he received almost 1.2M for 25 years. Wilpon used the Madoff money to run the club and was heavily invested with Madoff. If you are interested, google Wilpon/Madoff on Wikipedia. There is a section on this which can explain it better than I can.

Konck, more on Wilpon. NYC gave him free 23 acres of condemned land next to the stadium for mixed use purposes. He is trying to con Bloomburg, the mayor and friend, into giving him the rest of the property. He wants to build a casino. When he was asked how could he afford build a casino when he said he couldn't afford to sign free agents, he said a Long Island Indian tribe was going to build it and run it. Wouldn't be surprised if the city gives him the rest of the land, but doubt for a casino.
