    RIP Earl Weaver

A firey little cuss, I remember when they cut the dugout he was always smoking cigarettes.

1 of my favorite Earl Weaver stores was told by Jim Palmer.

Palmer what's involved in the preseason exhibition game, and had gotten in a jam.

Bases loaded, and here comes Earl Weaver.

Weaver tells Palmer to believe in his defense just throw the ball down the middle of the plate, the guy can't hit a lick.

    Palmer does so.....
The guy hits the ball a mile.

Weaver comes back out takes out Palmer and says, the guy got lucky trust me nobody is ever going to hear about that punch & Judy hitter again.

    The hitters name?
    Johnny Bench
    ........................................ ....................................

During one particular tirade with an umpire, Weaver headed to the dugout screaming,

"I'm going to check the rule-book on that"

    The umpire replied,

    "Here, use mine."

    Weaver shot back,
    "That's no good - I can't read Braille"

I have a cassette of this from wayyyyyy back . This sound bite omits the 3rd question asked . It was why don't you use Don Stanhouse more often. His response was "Don Stanhouse was a fukkin azzholle. He used to walk the bases fukkin loaded almost every game. He nearly ruined my health smokin fukkin cigarettes and thank god we have Timmy Stoddard comin out of the fukkin bullpen stinkin the bats up there azzes, and that's what it takes."

    RIP EARL.

    I loved the guy!

My favorite MLB manager of all time. He signed an autograph for me at Fenway Park when I was a little kid. He asked me who my favorite Oriole player was and I told him, "Mark Belanger, your Shortstop". Five minutes later, Belanger came over and gave me a signed baseball.

Thanks for the memories and RIP Earl.

Earl was a great, on to his eternal reward.

Still remember him picking his nose in the dugout
when I was a kid - weird that I remember the guy for that.
