How Much Work Does ADAM DUNN need to do to make HOF?

    comeback player of the year,

what kind of HR totals does he need to finish with to get HOF consideration?

    600?

or does it not really matter he'll be a contemporary Dave Kingham?

I don't think he gets in, its the Hall of Fame, not the hall of very good. He has been steady, I just don't see him ever getting the required vote. That being said, seems like a class guy and would like to see him get in.

yeah I think he is a good example of not letting long term "accumulator" types get in.

never sniffed an MVP and only two all star teams

he turns 33 in a few days

he has 406 HR's I could see him getting 500 if he stayed healthy in 4-5 years

the automatic induction numbers like 3,000 and 500 will HAVE to change if he got say 505

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there already one member of the 500 club that is not in the HOF. Or maybe its a 300 win pitcher, I'll try and find it.

He's Jay Buhner only not as good on defense. If he keeps posting the numbers he has the last 5 years (sans w/e happened in 2011) for the next 6-7 years we can have have discussion about whether being an okay player for a long time makes a player worth getting into the HOF (it doesn't)

The real question here is Paul Konerko, I feel he probably will deserve a nod when its all said and done, but I am not too sure he will get it.

He and Konerko both questions, I don't think you can definitively say yes or no on either guy. I say eventually one might get in, but most likely not.

throw another contemporary long time Pale Hose player in there too.

Mark Buehrle got any shot if he pitches 5 more years? what if he threw another no-no?

He's not a power pitcher, definitely got another 5 in him. I think he has as good of shot as any of the guys we've been mentioning, but if he pitches until he is 41-42 and gets to 300 wins, is there anyway you can keep him out?

the perfect game, the other no-no, the gold gloves, innings eater, how many years straight with 10+ wins?

I thought he wanted to retire early, but if he goes another 4-5 years it will be an interesting discussion.

Dunn isn't even remotely close to Thome - no only was Thome a much, much better hitter, Thome was also at least respectable as a fielder, where Dunn is an absolute hack. And Yes Thome should get in the HOF

Dunn can't get in unless he starts having .300 batting average season all of a sudden. The number of homers won't matter, even 800.

posters seem unified on the low batting average part of things.

but don't forget that baseball writers/voters are more and more putting way more stock in things like OPS

and Dunn has a respectable OPS

if he did get 600 HRs ( I don't think he will) I think he would get in eventually

    by the way Kingham=Kingman

I became aware of how much I butchered that name this morning.

and he and his 436 HR's ( in a different era) and .236 lifetime BA

got no sniff of the HOF, so there is alot of precedence in the above assertions on 2nd thought

How can Konerko not be close, if he can squeeze out 4 more years he likely will hit over 500 homeruns with a .280+ career batting average.

That play was incredible, and I forgot about him wanting to retire early. If he and Ozzie could have stuck together in Chicago, I think he would have stayed around for the long haul. Now, if he doesn't find a good situation quick, I think he'll be done very soon.

we he has quite a few reasons left in the last 3 years of that 58 million dollar contract to stay around.

about 48 million of it I believe. I'm sure he'll get traded from Miami though

You make it sound like 94 homeruns over a four-five year stretch is good for someone that will strike out close to 1,000 times in that same timeframe.

Adam Dunn sucks. No chance of the Hall of Fame.

He has a better chance of winning a couple of gold gloves.
