Why dont they have performance based contracts in baseball...???

Its unlike any other sport...your batting BY YOURSELF>......i can understand why they dont in football, basketball,hockey,ect.....but in baseball it seeeems like you could do it...

I think it would make the game better....close any doubt about getting a players best effort and keep the hunger..

Plus it would prevent horrible investments....I mean it dosent have to be all performance based....

    Thoughts/Reasons?

of course they do, just look at Alex Rodriguez's contract for example. Hitting a certain number of home runs, landmark HRs I believe it was 660, 700, 715... the list goes on he receives $6 million from the Yanks.

I'm sure there is a lot of incentive based salary that never comes public.

There are bonuses for MVP, batting title, rookie of the year, all of that incentive based pay is determined by player and agent. Yes this does happen in baseball- which sports were you relating it too- football?
