    Reds Cubs U/O 14?

Seems like a lot of runs to give up. This is the current line on 5 dimes. Taking the U

Totally agree. I already took the under too, but I can't figure out why a NL game has such a high run total?

great fade material......the books don't hand out high numbers assuming the game will go under...some people are unreal.

lol c'mon, guys don't follow baseball? Whenever the wind is blowing out at Wrigley you get high totals.

If the wind were blowing in you'd have a total of like 8 for today.

I know the number is high...but it's still the cubs facing a decent pitcher here, Cindy may be able to put up 8 runs tonight, I don't expect more than 4 from the cubbies

As far as I can go back in my database, the Cubs at home has had a total of 14 or more two times since 2004. Both went over.

    2004(total, 14.0): Maddux vs Reds (Wilson) L 10-11
    2010(total, 14.5): Wells vs Diamondbacks (Lopez) W 11-5

Three other games all in 2004, Rockies at home with a total of 14 or more- all three went over.

I'm personally playing Cubs +129. Gl total bettors!

I remember it was 12.5 Memorial Day this year vs Padres. It ended up being 18 total runs. There was bunch of HRs.

21 mph wind blowing out. there's a reason why the total is set so high.

You still have to hit the ball pretty hard to take it that deep that many times. im on the under. The wind might assist 1 or 2 homeruns at the most.

at most? You better look at the previous games where winds of 20+ mph were blowing out.

dear god people if the winds are blowing at 30MPH winds the ball is going to soar like crazy. A tiny little baseball is going to hull ass out of the field in 30MPH winds.

contrary to what some might believe, it's not really that difficult to hit a homer at Wrigley when 20+ mph winds are blowing out. All you need to do is look at the past Wrigley games with totals of 11+ and see what happened. Every "routine fly ball" is a threat to go out. As an added bonus, when guys pop up, it's a hell of a time trying to catch it.

The only way to combat it is with ground ball pitchers, and neither Leake nor Rusin fit the bill.

Either way i think the over is crazy to take. if you dont think its going under then lay off it.

I took the over 14 (EV) @ DSI. Even Leake can hit a bomb to left-center

Since the 2010 season, totals of 12 or more are 5-5 O/U.

Nine of those have been a Wrigley, 5-4 over.

    4-29-2010: 5-13 over
    4-30-2010: 11-5 over
    7-24-2010: 6-5 under
    9-06-2010: 5-4 under
    9-23-2010: 0-13 over
    4-03-2011: 4-5 under
    5-30-2011: 7-12 over
    7-01-2011: 4-6 under
    5-28-2012: 11-7 over

Since the 2010 season, totals of 13 or more are 3-1 O/U, all of which have been a Wrigley (average runs 15.8).

    Reds line-up tonight:

    1. Phillips
    2. Stubbs
    3. Votto
    4. Ludwick
    5. Bruce
    6. Rolen
    7. Navarro
    8. Valdez
    9. Leake

That's a good recipe for at least 10 runs, knowing Leake will give up at least 6 on his own.
