    May 31st MLB

With the NBA taking the day off it’s time to go to the baseball diamond to see if I can make a few bucks.

    Giants +126

The Giants are not as bad as everyone thought they would be this year and have a great record at home. The Giants have won four out of five on this home stand and they have been in every contest. The Cardinals are just one game above .500 on the road and when they face lefties they hit 33 points less than when they face right-handers. The Giants have been getting it done at the plate hitting .262 in the last 10 a full 30 points higher than the red birds. Giants play well at home and get the win here today.

    Arizona / Atlanta Over 9

These teams have no support from the bullpens and this will easily cause this game to go over today’s posted total of 9. Both bullpens have been plain awful of late yielding ERA’s over 6. The Braves bullpen will play a role in this game because Medlen has been bad in his previous starts. He has been hit around by teams that do not have the same type of offense that the Diamondbacks possess. Arizona is hitting the ball fairly well posting an average of .299 in the last ten games. This game will have plenty of runs and go well over the total this afternoon.

    Over 9.5 Dodgers/Cubs

One pitcher is coming back from a long absence and the other pitcher is not very good. Sean Marshall will get the start for the Cubs. The left-hander will make his third career start versus the Dodgers. He is 0-0 with a 5.19 ERA in the first two, and hasn’t lasted past the fifth inning. Marshall and the Cubs are 4-11 (-10.2 Units) against the ML in home games since 2007.

Milton starts for the Dodgers after getting called up from triple A. The veteran left-hander is 3-1 with a 6.70 ERA in eight career starts at Wrigley Field, where he hasn’t pitched since 2006.Milton will not be around once some of the Dodger starters get back from injury.

With two pitchers that are shaky and bats that are waking up. I will take the over. Robert Drake calls the game behind the plate tonight and he has a very small strike zone and that gives room for the players to hit. The over is 7-3 in the last ten games he has manned the strike zone.
