    Saturday MLB Handicapper Report - 9/1

    San Francisco Giants
    -Enjoyed their best month of the season, going 18-11 in August
    -SP Tim Lincecum has received just 3.87 runs of support per game, ranks fifth-lowest in the NL
    -Won 14 of their last 22 games against Chicago
    -Since the All-Star break, the Giants have gone 17-6 on the road, best figure in the majors
    -Posted a 25-14 record against NL Central opponents (9-8 on the road)
    -Averaging 5.15 runs per game on the road, second-best in the majors (LAA, 5.21)
    -Gone 10-16 on the road in day games (26-28 overall)
    -Lincecum has allowed 25 of his 92 runs in the first inning, most in the majors
    -Lincecum has gone 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last three road starts

    Baltimore Orioles
    -The Orioles have won five of their last six in the Bronx
    -36 road wins, six more than their total in 2011 (30)
    -Gone 24-12 in day games (13-5 on the road), best win percentage overall in the AL, second-best in the majors (Reds)
    -Went 18-9 in August, most wins in any month this season
    -Played eight road series against divisional foes, winning six of them
    -C Matt Wieters has hit in 12 straight games against the Yankees this year
    -SP Wei-Yin Chen is 5-1 with a 3.25 ERA in his last seven road starts
    -Chen is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in two starts against the Yankees

    Tampa Bay Rays

    -Bullpen has pitched 18.1 consecutive scoreless innings, owns a 0.74 ERA in the last 40 games
    -The Rays are 27-22 versus division opponents
    -Led the majors with a 2.27 ERA in August
    -The Rays are 150-219 all-time in September, their worst month
    -SP Jeff Niemann posted a 6.91 ERA in two rehab starts between Class-A and Triple-A
    -Niemann has a 5-7 career record with a 5.99 ERA in September, his highest ERA of any month
    -Niemann has won only one of his last seven starts versus the Blue Jays

    New York Yankees
    -Stretch of 22 straight games against AL East teams (1-3)
    -The Yankees have made the postseason in each of the last 15 times they’ve been in first place to start September
    -SS Derek Jeter is batting .395 when leading off the game in the first inning
    -Won the home series in each of the last 14 seasons against the Orioles, posting an 84-40 mark
    -SP David Phelps has the third-lowest ERA among MLB rookie pitchers (min. 70 IP)


    Toronto Blue Jays
    -The Blue Jays are 4-9 against the Rays this year (3-4 at home), outscored by 65-40 overall margin
    -Would lose the season series for a fifth consecutive season with one more loss
    -Won three straight games for the first time since July 26-28, haven’t won four in a row since May 16-19
    -Finished August with a 9-19 record, represents the second-worst August in club history
    -Blue Jays SP Henderson Alvarez is 0-4 with a 6.08 ERA in four starts versus the Rays


    Chicago Cubs
    -Gone 11-15 versus NL West opponents this year, with six of seven resulting in some sort of sweep
