Leadoff 2B to start the inning. Tight game. Slugger's up next. What do you do?

If you don't bunt a guy to third with no one out -- regardless of who's up -- you are managing baseball the wrong way.

Yet I hardly ever see any MLB manager make their "stars" play situational ball in this spot. They're always swinging away, which typically ends in being -EV.

Braves were the latest example tonight. Prado doubles to lead off in a tie game. Extra innings. Heyward up. Does Gonzalez call for a bunt? Hell no. Braves don't score and wind up losing.

Little things add up in baseball.

Giants executed this well today. Ended up being the difference in the game. Pagan leadoff double. Scutaro bunt over. Pablo sac fly.

Giants play small ball the right way. Always have.

    Rays do the same.

I agree fundamentally it's the right play. However, Posey wouldn't of bunted in that situation nor Longoria.
