Everyone in the WORLD knew a team with a top 5 payroll would underperform at an epic level and win less than 70 games.

Except Las Vegas oddsmakers who had them 8/1 to win the NLCS and me.

If you hate SBR so much why do you post here as a ghost?

It's clearly evident that Loria will put the team up for sale within the next year.

Nolasco will be the next to go. He's the only one left making any money.

Loria is a pile. There will be a big party in Miami when Loria, Samson and Beinfest are gone.

Loria is definitely a gaping a-hole here, but why is it that all sports writers make it seem like the Marlins' stadium deal was unique among professional sports franchises? The Marlins didn't really get the city government to pay all that much more than most cities pay for most professional sporting venues.

From what I could see, the Heat paid $50 of the $213 million for the AAA. Just a rough calculation shows that the Marlins paid a slightly higher percentage for the park.

    Sports writers: they're dumb

The overlooked, comical part about this trade is that somehow Beinfest managed to trade the whole team to Toronto without getting Toronto's top prospect.

This behavior by Loria pisses me off and I am not even a fan of the Marlins. The guy is a snake oil sales man. He is not a real owner. Most good owner's realize owning a sports franchise is about a dick measuring contest among other wealthy elite. This guy wants to take advantage of the MLB revenue sharing, merchandising, and TV revenue. It does not matter if the Marlins sale 1 ticket or win 1 game they will be profitable in 2013 and that is all he cares about. Most profits are made via appreciation of the franchise and not ticket sales. Since the beginning of time sports franchises good, bad, or ugly are all worth more than they were 20 years ago. Most owner's/investors get that and if they break even on a year to year basis they are happy. This guy needs to sell the franchise and get somebody in there that wants it. He raped the Florida and Miami public with that stadium via public funding. Grossly duped people and cried foul for years over not having a stadium and once he gets one he shits on the public again. Unreal. Guy has no shame.

These guys do this it actually works they have made the playoff and WS doing this why should they stop now.
They got some over priced losers and dumped....whats wrong with that...they went to a team with a lot of minor league fire power. They will be back in a few years as buyers.

Hard to blame anyone. The owners are weasels for never fully investing in the team. Yet no fans show up to the games because anyone in Miami knows there are 100 better ways to spend your time than going to a baseball game in the summer heat, this isn't St. Louis. Can't argue with their success, 2 Championships in 20 years of existence.

Of course the owner and his management staff have the right to do whatever the hell they want with the organization. The problem I have is crying foul about not having the money to spend on FA's because the stadium situation they had. Basically convinced the public to invest over $300 million is tax payers money to build new stadium. With the kind of product they will put on the field they could have stayed in the dump they were in which was nothing more than a football stadium. I have a problem with the $300 million he got from the city,ie taxpayers. When you role on your own dime you can do whatever the hell you want. Basically he ain't rolling on his own dime. He is a welfare project that makes money based on the mass wealthiness of MLB.

Also, he is not responsible for the 1997 Championship. He was not the owner and 2003 was a dream run on the back of a hot young pitcher named Josh Beckett. He bought the team in 2002 and those pieces were in place from prior ownership and management. Most of you are too young and dumb to even know Josh Beckett was a Marlin.

The one thing that California voters got right was not letting tax dollars be spent on building new stadiums. Liberal pussies love spending other people's money but they hate sports so it still worked out well in the end. AT&T Park was privately built is one of the nicest venues out there. Now the Warriors are going to revitalize some crumbling, unused piers and the 49ers are building something nice but reasonable. Let the shareholders who are earning the profits be the ones to take the risks.
