Gotta Wonder Why the Yankees are Only -230 Home Favorites

The New York Yankees opened as -215 home favorites and were immediately backed at that price after Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista left Monday's game with a wrist injury

    • Novice bettors aren't scared off at the price due to CC Sabathia making his first start since June 24 (DL w/groin strain)
    • Sabathia is undefeated in his last eight starts against the Blue Jays (7-0, 2.73 ERA)
    • The Yankees are 45-10 as a home favorite of -200 or more (20-6 w/Sabathia on the hill)
    • Blue Jays SP Brett Cecil has allowed a HR in 13 of his last 16 starts (20 total in that span)
    • Cecil's 1.60 HR per 9 IP last year would have led the AL if he threw enough innings to qualify - faces the best HR hitting team in the majors
    • New York has won the last six meetings at Yankee Stadium

Very surprised this line isn't north of -300 due to the information provided above, while also figuring the Bronx Bombers have the better bullpen if needed

Yeah, Jeff is right. I've seen CC -300 plenty of times in this kind of spot.

Is CC on a short leash off the DL? That might have something to do with it. I see Toronto's TT is being juiced pretty heavy at 3.5 -- seems high as well for a CC start given Bautista's out.

Sabathia is probably pissed that Bautista isn't in the lineup (1 for 19 against him, 8 Ks)

    Wow -- didn't realize that.

CC has absolutely dominated the Jays in the past. I also expected this line to be at least -300.

I dont think its anythng to worry about. tey maybe just trying to play mind games. ive seen the jays at +205 on some other sites. about right to me. I do remember when cecil won 15 games with the jays back in 2010 or in 09 i forget, anyways i think he only gave up 2 runs in yankee stadium. maybe that has somethin to do with it. anyways im all over the yankees here.

Brett cecil has an awful GO/AO for yankee stadium. but he's good against left batters. He's horrible vs. right handed batters, will be facing 7/9 RHB tonight, but new york is "average" from the right side compared to the left side. Can't really find an edge to bet toronto for value, I'm saying NYY takes this easily

    Yankees-1.5 -123

    *Toronto Brett Cecil 2-1 6.75ERA 2 games away - 10IP 11Hits 7ER 1.65HIP .275avg
    *Cecil Night 1-1 8.74ERA .333avg 11P 11ER
    *June/July 6.06ERA/7.84ERA
*Last start vs White sox 6E 4.1IP
*Cecil Faced 2 good teams this year Angels/WSOX roughed up by both

    *C.C. Sabathia 9-3 3.45ERA * Home 4-2 2.33ERA 0.99WHIP .202avg Night 7-2 3.30ERA
*lefties hitting .236avg off Sabathia Righties .264avg
*Blue jays 3 out of 4 losses on tuesday road games by more than 2 runs

    *Cano 6 for 22
    *jeter 7 for 25
    *Texeria 6 for 21
*Arod 5 for 17 hes heatin up at DH position

*kelly johnson 4 for 10 off sabathia
    *lind 3 for 8
*Lawrie hittin .343 off lefties but 1 for 5 off Sabathia

    *Jeter hittin .385 off lefties

Alright guys. I love the jays, i said this in my last post. The jays will get beat tommorow, Sabathia and the yankees will be pumped along with the fans for Sabathia returning. Cecil has been roughed up so far his year, Sabathia pitched great at home. Jays with out jose bautista may be a little deflating with all these injuries adding up.

I think the jays had a real shot of winning game 1 as it was tied 2-2 until the jays bullpen blew it like usuall. I dont believe the jays will get the chance again. Yankees are makin their run to he playoffs and will start separating contenders from pretenders.

This game has the chance of being a blowout........ I see yankees 6-1 7-2 type game

heres the info i got. I looked at the game and the angles last night for about an hour atleast. weather wont be a factor, sabathia is a horse, i see him going deep tonight. Lawrie hittin .358 vs lefties but 1 for 5 off sabathia. lawrie stugglin of late. The only thing i can think of is that game Cecil threw back in yankee stadium a couple years back he baffled yankie hitters. I dont see it happin this time with the form cecil i in and te way yankes r hittng. think there just tryin to get averae backers to throw money on the jays.

    Just my input

CC was never really 'injured' in the first place, he was placed on the DL to get fresh for the pennant race down the stretch. Cashman said if this were September he wouldn't have DL'd CC at all

    are u on crack?

jays are 4-1 when cecil starts this season.. and fatboy hasn't faced toronto in over a year. he hasn't dominated toronto at all in 2012

count on toronto to give Cecil a shitload of run support, even if it may be in a losing cause

based on toronto raking whenever cecil starts. not saying toronto is a great play, but the value is surely on toronto here..

and the jays like to win these games, when it doesn't make any sense./

naa man i saw a similar situation when weaver came off DL for the angels. The crowd was rockin, weaver was lights out. Your right sabathia hast faced jays this year but i see him throwin a good game tonight. Cecil is 4-1 because the pitchers th jys were goin against were just average during cecils starts. Kinda like the run suport romero was getting until he was matched up against Masterson.

makes no sense.... Look at Romero scored sh it loads for him first half. Now hes gettin no run support. do yur reaserch, why was Cecil gettin support

6 pitchers he faced: Axelrod, Mazzaro, Haren, Johnson MIA , Kendrick.

Kendrick a fill in for halladay from the minors, Haren havin a awful year, Mazzaro....... who ????? Axelrod???? really....... Johnson gave up 1 run over 7IP but bullpen gave up 6 that game.

With all due respect to the following pitchers, these guys are nothing as good as Sabathia. Lunchbawks the run support ends here

man, i just did my research.... to tell u the truth the truth Cecil pitchd better than i thought. Sabathia was a little lucky as well.. ball was hit hard off him all night, just happened to be sraight at yankee players. I psted these plays on my thread. Ive watched almost all the jays games this year. Their batters jst arnt diciplined at the plate.

never really believed in "value betting", in most cases you lose that unit bet, and if you do win, the profit is marginal compared to a regular play. value plays don't warrant the risk to reward for me.
