    Early Tuesday MLB Information

    -Marlins SP Anibal Sanchez is 1-2 with a 5.66 ERA in four career starts versus the Cubs, including 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA in two outings at Wrigley Field

    -Pirates SP Erik Bedard has lost his last four decisions, while allowing a home run (four total) in each of his last three starts
    -Red Sox SP Jon Lester is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in his last two starts against the White Sox, but is 0-1 with a 7.30 ERA in two outings against them at Fenway Park overall
    -Yankees SP CC Sabathia is undefeated over his last eight starts against the Blue Jays, going 7-0 with a 2.73 ERA
    -Sabathia has held Jose Bautista to just one hit in 19 career at-bats
    -Rays SP Matt Moore is 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA over his last five home starts
    -Moore is 3-2 with a 2.95 ERA when pitching on extra rest (2-3, 5.85 ERA on regular)
    -Moore has held left-handed hitters to a .170 average since May 12 (.429 before)
    -White Sox SP Philip Humber is 1-2 with a 8.83 ERA in three career starts versus the Red Sox

    Monday MLB Recap


    -Detroit has won 11 of its last 15 games, moving within 2.5 games of the Chicago White Sox in the division
    -The Yankees were 16 for 88 (.181) with the bases loaded this season before Raul Ibanez’s big fly
    -White Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis is batting .323 with three HRs and 15 RBIs in 17 games since joining the club
    -Cincinnati 1B Joey Votto will be out three to four weeks with a knee injury
    -Nationals OF Bryce Harper went 2 for 16 in the four-game series against the Marlins
    -The Rays have gone 6-12 in their last 18 games, scoring four runs or fewer in 15 of those contests
    -Minnesota is averaging 5.9 runs per game when Scott Diamond is on the mound, nearly two more than the rest of the rotation
    -San Diego went 0 for 8 with RISP and was shut out for the ninth time this season

    -The Tigers have won 11 of their last 15 games, leading all AL clubs with a .733 win percentage since June 28
    -Won nine of their last 13 games against the Angels at Comerica Park
    -Pitching staff has a 3.27 ERA over the last 15 games, ranking third in the AL since June 28
    -SP Jacob Turner would become the youngest Tigers pitcher to earn a win since Sept. 23, 2009, as he gets set to make his fourth career start
    -Allowing right-handed batters to hit .216 against him in his career (.382 lefties)


    Pittsburgh Pirates
    -The Pirates and Dodgers have played in the most one-run games (35) in Major League Baseball, with each team going 19-16 in that situation
    -Pittsburgh’s hitting .279 since the beginning of June, which is the third-highest average in the majors, behind the Angels (.292) and Twins (.285)

    Chicago Cubs
    -The Cubs’ 36-52 record through 88 games is one-game better than its 35-53 mark last season
    -Won a season-high six-straight home games for the first time since July 2009
    -SP Travis Wood enters with a career high-tying four-game win streak (1.01 ERA, .181 opponents BA)
    -OF Alfonso Soriano has hit 17 HRs in the last 52 games


    Cincinnati Reds
    -At least one HR has been hit in each of the last 69 games at GABP
    -Cincinnati is 15-14 all-time against Arizona at GABP (1-3 L2 years)
    -SP Johnny Cueto has the majors best ERA since the start of the 2011 season (2.34), ahead of Jered Weaver (2.36) and Justin Verlander (2.41)
