Are there any good fat pitchers?

I was just thinking about this as Bell gags on another save opportunity. Do good fat pitchers even exist? I know Bell and Billingsley have pretty much been as bad as anyone this year.

True there's a lot of pitchers with that kind of body but I wouldn't exactly call him fat either

Livan Hernandez - is he even still around? Perhaps not good, but solid for sure.

He sucks now. He gave up 6 runs in one inning with the braves when I was on Toronto. $$ maker

None that ever pitched for my home team. As an Orioles fan the only fat pitchers that i have ever seen pitch for my home team is Sydney Ponson and Rocky Coppinger. So u can understand why i am prejudice agianst fat pitchers. I mean christ i remember seeing Rocky Coppinger eat his way out of MLB. I mean this guy got fatter with each start.

not answering exactly.... but last year's Yankees main starting rotation of CC, Nova, AJ, Garcia, Colon whom started 143/162 games.

had an average Weight HIGHER than the Pittsburgh Steeler Steel Curtain in the their football peak!

Even CC is average at best. If it wasn't for his fukkin insane run support that the Yankees pull through for him with then he would be gaaaahhhbage.

Most Closers are very big men. A big guy will have a more durable arm and can pitcher longer into his career with a high 90's fastball. Its just physics. Tall and large structure, and many of them like Bobby Jenks for instance, fill that frame out with alot of extra fat.

for every 1 Tom Gordon type you'll have 10 Broxton types

right NOW CC is still above avg. But career wise, (he's always been fat) He has been WAY above average

I say right now he is average, but he has been way above average. I guess I am just hatin' because he seems to give up 15 runs in the first inning every single time I am on his side.

yeah that would be an opinion with observer bias

fact is that the league average for ERA is 4.04 and CC's is 3.45 He is also 12th in all of MLB with 105 SO's

give him a chance hes a great pitcher. to put up the numbers he does in hitters parks like yankee stadium, against offenses like texas/boston, i think hes actually fairly underrated.

i reckon if he stayed with the brewers he would've won 3+ cy youngs by now.

these are his numbers from his short stint in the NL:

11-2 record, 1.65 ERA, 7 complete games and 3 shutouts amongst those. and he only made 17 starts!
he would destroy those NL lineups

Haha, you're insane. I hate CC but the dude can pitch. He can pitch in his current surroundings but if you were to put him in San Fran for example, he would flat out dominate.
