Play the home dogs tonight when the Rockies host the Dodgers in Denver.
In tonight's Dodgers/Rockies matchup, we believe the wrong team is favored. Los Angeles is now two games back of the San Diego Padres in the NL West and all the pressure is on them. Colorado, meanwhile, has been out of the playoff hunt for quite some time and are playing loosely, having won five of their last seven games.
Tonight's starter for Colorado, RHP Jason Jennings, has been excellent at home this season, checking in with a 3.28 ERA. He has already beaten the Dodgers once this season and has faired rather well against them in his career.
Yes, Dodger starter Greg Maddux is a big game pitcher, but LA has lost three of his last four starts and he checks in with a lofty 5.44 ERA on the road this season. Furthermore, Coors field hasn't been kind to Maddux, posting a 6.17 ERA in his career there.
Colorado is a tough park to play in and the Rockies have a winning record (44-34) there while the Dodgers are a losing proposition on the road (33-42). We'll gladly take the home underdog in this one.
