    Will Boston make the playoffs?

I highly doubt it.. no starting pitching, no speed

Sox are really outclassed in the AL East

Not a chance. The other teams are much better. They could play better and still not gain any ground. They look to me like they have given up already.

Doesn't look good at this stage, simply because they have 4 teams playing very well ahead of them.

They will have the best 'trade deadline' of any team in the major leagues though with an All-Star, MVP, and a previous Rookie of the Year all coming off the DL in Crawford, Ellsbury and Bailey. Cody Ross due back on the 19th, and they have a future gold glove SS waiting in triple-A. Top 10 farm in the major leagues. They also have the best rookie infielder in the majors (Middlebrooks) and the second best rookie pitcher in the AL (Doubront).

On top of all this they have expendable proven players like Youkilis and Sweeney who they can trade for pitching depth. The season will rest on the shoulders of Dice-K and Felix Doubront, as Clay, Lester and Beckett are all rounding into form nicely.

The amount of salary on their disabled list is greater than a lot of team's total payroll. Like it or not the Sox have the biggest upside of any team in the majors.
