CK's Daily Basbeall Thread Leans for Thursday 4/23/09

In today's action I like the following games so far

Harang is a live dog and Zambrano is a bad big $ pitcher, Cincy is considered to be a sorry ass team by me. They win another one in a row for no reason at all but to mop the floor with public money.

    Cincy +140

See above and replace names with Bush and Hamels. Milwaukee hits lefties well. When sorry ass teams win one they win a few more. Live dog. False favorite in this game. It will be high scoring though so I like

    Milwaukee+140

    and

    Milwaukee/Philadelphia over 9.5

Better team versus the team that caught lightning in a bottle in New York. They are coming down to earth. As promised I will continue taking the Royals in this series because I think that they will win it.

    Royals-110 HEAVY

Looking good, these were the ones that I thought of when first looking over the lines. Only favorite that seems taking tomorrow is the Dodgers at -131 (I have a hard time thinking that Billingsley wont come out and blow away the Astros).

Booked the over on Milwaukee/Phili, probably gonna stay away from the Brew Crew moneyline, but the Reds and Royals look mighty enticing...

watch out with the stros or the under today. the bullpen is tired and banged up no closer or setup man available.

    Today my picks are

    Dodgers -125
    Reds +140
Tigers (any odds better than -115)
As stated previously, the tigers defensively are much better than the halos and they paid a price in yesterday's game for it. I feel good with my money in Jackson's hands especially facing an emergency callup starting pitcher with a career era of 8.53.

One thing I noticed about Verlander last night is how he is falling off the mound to the left at the end of his delivery much more than he has in the past. His velocity is better than last year (hitting 97-98 when he wants to reach for it) but his release and follow through looked problematic yesterday.

CK i agree with what you are saying about the Reds. I love it when we cap the games and come up with the same thing. It gives me that good feeling, like cookies and milk. I even decided to buck my trend and even use capital letters today.

Anyone else liking the Tigers tonight? I have no idea how to cap baseball. But I'm pretty confident with the Tigers pick.

I will also tail your heavy play CK.

CK....nice picks today...I'm all over 'em

just a note on theis 1st inning bets...I'm not playing em yet...just watching. BETUS has the 1st innings and they aren't very vigorous if your betting on a score...in fact very much the other way
    here are the #'s
    -130
    -115
    -120
    -130
    -155
    EVEN
    +105
    +120
    -150
at that rate that's alot of vigor to layout for what is basically 30-40 more wins a month...how can this be profitable...have we screwed this by talking to much about it?? or have the books just caught up...

I do agree with your over in Philly, but the numbers do not indicate that Milwaukee hits lefties well. .221 avg this season vs. them.

Im currently breaking down some of the matchups for today: Early and Late, but their is one game i am going to go ahead and jump on and if you do not agree, please let me know why. I may be missing something here, but Detroit vs LAA tonight! Detroit is -135! I love it!

Throwing for Detroit is Jackson (1-0, 2.14 ERA). Pitched 7 2-3 impressive innings despite flu-like symptoms in Detroit's 2-0 win over Seattle on Saturday.

Throwing for LAA Palmer had an 8.53 ERA in three starts for San Francisco last year, and has allowed 10 runs in 7 2-3 innings in the minors to start this season.

Any information i may be missing?

Just about every Cub except Soriano has pounded Harang in his career so I would be scared of the Reds today!!
Philly/Brew Crew...easily over 9.5! The Phils may make it by themselves...the Brewers bullpen is $hit!

    White Sox RL (+135)

Adam Eaton is a pile of $hit!! Get all you can get before he gets pulled out of the rotation and back in AA where he belongs! Bart Colon is 10-6 lifetime vs the O's and may get hit around somewhat but he's still 5x better than Eaton!!

    Booked:
    Brewers +160 @ Phillies
I like a little early action and just straight up tailing CK on this one
    Rangers -1.5 +145 @ Bluejays
Millwood is looking dominant this year. I think the Rangers big bat will finally show up while he is on the mound. You know they have to feel bad for Millwood throwing a CG and only giving up 2 runs yet still getting the loss in his last outing.
    Dodgers -1.5 +125 @ Astros
The Dodgers are to good to be swept by anyone. Billingsly is stepping up to take over the role as their ace. I think he will be the slump buster and throw a gem tonight.

On second thought, I'm not so sure about Cincy. Harang definitely does get pounded everytime against the Cubs and Zambrano's hasn't given up more than a run in his last 5 starts against the Reds. Think I'm gonna stay away from this one.

Don't forget that Jackson is 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA in the last 2 years against the Halos, And gave up 32 hits in 17 and 2-3 innings in those appearances. I think the over in this game is the play but Good luck with your pick.

Trey Hillman is the worst manager in baseball... hands down. Warm up Mesa in the 7th inning. 1 run lead going into the 8th. Meche has 100 pitches going into the 8th and you leave him in. Mesa + Soria is automatic. Instead, Meche loses it a bit and gives up a run and then Hillman puts in one of the worst 10 relievers in the majors to lose the game.

Well done Trey Hillman .... real men of genius... Mr. really shitty baseball manager guy.

Wish I had played 1st 5 innings like I planned.
