in 2010 the dodgers played 35 home games against sub-.500 teams. they won 22, 9 by 1 run
in 2011 the dodgers played 44 home games against sub-.500 teams. they won 26, 9 by 1 run

however this year the dodgers have won 10 out of 11 home games against sub-.500 opposition, (5 of them were 1 run games)

the -1.5 RL is trouble but a -1RL isnt on this team.

this is all without factoring in that the best pitcher in the NL was on the mound for this game.

This would be really interesting. It's almost impossible to be successful as a big league starting pitcher with a low strike out rate, let alone a complete game shut out without striking anyone out.

I am not going to second guess the OP. Kershaw is a top 3 pitcher in baseball (Verlander and Hammels are the other 2). I give him mad props for this bet and for showing us the bet.

I've gotten burned all season by betting against the Dodgers and as soon as I stopped after Tuesday's Diamondback debacle, they are going to go on a tailspin. No way without Kemp this team can sustain their current level of play. At best, it's a .500 team without Kemp, probably even worse. I mean Abreau is batting in the #3 spot.

Career-wise, Halladay has been the best, but Hammels has had a better career so far than Cliff Lee has had. Right now though, until I see otherwise, Cole Hammels is the ace of that staff and I have Kershaw ranked slightly higher but that's it.

theres a few reasons why i think halladay at least is a better pitcher overall though. since joining the phillies hes put up better numbers than hamels (aside from the first 3rd of this season) while being 6 years older, and before that he had at least 3 or 4 seasons with a sub-3 ERA in the AL east which is phenomenal. hamels has put up elite numbers too though, but theyve all been matched if not beaten by doc and hamels had the benefit of pitching to some subpar NL east lineups.

the wildcard pitcher in this argument is strasburg, as soon as he is allowed to pitch a full year then hes automatically a top 5 pitcher in my opinion. filthy stuff.

Well, you won't get an argument out of me on that point. Halladay is very close to being a HOF if he retired tomorrow. I think he needs 1 or 2 more very good years and then the next 3 or 4 years after that can be mediocre and he will have 250+ wins, multiple cy young awards, and have been one of the truly dominant pitchers of the new century.

As for GM 7, I would probably take Halladay too.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Hammels. It is a contract year and he is pitching out of this world so far. Word is, he is going to the Dodgers (since he is from the southern CA area).
