Leyland has 5 lefties in the lineup today. Miggy hits Masterson well. Masterson is a ground ball pitcher but he has also had command issues this year having issued 5+ walks three times already. Leyland has been preaching patience of late, we may see a few runners on base early for the Tigs.

I would have like Cleveland's chances more with their patent all lefty lineup but an injury to Hafner in last nights game, the continued unavailability of Jack Hanrahan and the day game forcing Marson instead of Santana (who will DH); leave 3 righties in the lineup. Several Indians batters, Damon, Brantley, Lopez, Kotchman have extemely low strikeout rates against Verlander. We may see a bit more contact than usual in this one off Verlander. I am not seeing one of those 14 K games from him. We might see a few innings from the shit Tiger bully here as Leyland is trying not to go crazy this year. Verlander off two low pitch count games may fool me on this though. If the Indians can make him grind a bit and I think they may, the bullpen is shit against lefties.

Wind blowing straight out to left today and forecast to do so full game. 7 is the number and I think we may see a few runs here.

I am gonna have a go at Detroit -.5 first five -114 and the game total over 7 +104.

Probably too much info for this thread but what the fuk.

    Good luck gents.

Detroit first 5 is solid. Verlander can go 8 and Detroit still loses due to Benoit and Dotel/Valverde being putrid.

Verlander -1.5 +EV is my play.
Verlander strike out rate against the Tribe is 1:3.5 at bats.
That number is not just eye popping, it's a huge sample size (346 at bats) and suggests that even if JV gets in a little jam, he can strike his way out of it just about anytime.
Also, unlike 90 percent of the rest of the league's starters who go deep into the seventh inning, Verlander can finish what he starts, even if it does mean 125 pitches.

    JV -1.5 ftw for me.

Verlander never pitches particularly well vs. Cleveland, the Tiger bats are stone cold, and you laid -165 on the road against the better team in a day game.

I'm sure you considered all of that before you made the play though, right?

No offense, the Indians are not a better team than the Tigers. Just b/c they have a better record does not mean they are better. If they are the better team, why are they such big underdogs this afternoon?

Because Verlander is pitching. He could be -200 and people would take the bait. Truth is, he's barely above .500 in his career vs. the Tribe with an ERA of like 4.8.

Does Cleveland have more talent than Detroit? No. Is Cleveland a better team than Detroit right now? Without question.

And Masterson is 0-4 with a 5.14 lifetime ERA against the Tigers, what's your point?

My point is the Indians are playing well right now and the Tigers aren't. How you can lay -165 right now on Detroit is beyond me, but good luck.
