GAME OF THE DAY: 76'ers vs Celtics

    PHILADELPHIA 76'ers vs BOSTON CELTICS
7PM ET, TD Garden, Boston, MA

Boston took an early lead thanks to another age defying performance from Kevin Garnett who is on fire right now. Rajon Rondo also came through late on when the Celtics needed him and will be an important key in tonight's game. Philadelphia knocked the Bulls out in the previous round despite suffering early defeat in that series. They are a younger team and may just have the stamina to go the distance.

Celtics are the favourites tonight, current ML at the SBR Sportsbook is:

    PHILADELPHIA +160
    BOSTON -190

UPDATE: Celtics should have full strength squad

In a sign that all hands will again be on deck for Monday night’s Game 2 against the Sixers, the Celtics reported full participation in the brief shootaround Monday morning.

Team owner Wyc Grousbeck attended and watched from the sidelines as the team went through mostly a series a halfcourt sets in preparation for tonight’s game, which tips off at 7 p.m. at TD Garden.

Paul Pierce (left knee), Ray Allen (right ankle), Avery Bradley (left shoulder) and Mickael Pietrus (right knee) all took part in the workout.

Not sure about that. Celts played well against Heat during the regular season....and no Bosh??? Should be close.
Ofcourse they would need to get by Philly first.

UPDATE : Brand, Young expected to play for Philadelphia tonight

Sixers forwards Thaddeus Young and Elton Brand are both expected to play in tonight's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston.

The Sixers said Brand has a strained neck that is impacting the left side of his body. He saw a chiropractor Sunday and was still sore Monday during the team's light shootaround. Brand said the neck has been bothering him for about a week.

Brand played only a bit over 15 minutes on Saturday, partially due to the injury, partially due to the effectiveness of Lavoy Allen, who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in just under 20 minutes.

The Sixers said during Saturday's game that Young injured his right ankle, but Young told reporters Sunday that he rolled the ankle after getting kneed in the shin. Young had the shin iced this morning.

Young missed a little time in the second quarter due to the injury and didn’t play at all in the third quarter, but was able to return throughout the fourth.

Sixers in 6. Heat will be tough, but if Bosh out, chance on best to go to finals.

I'm taking the Sixers tonight. Every-bodies pounding that old Celtics team. I have faith in the 76ers to pull this 1 out. We'll see.

That's what all the naysayers said in the Chi-Phi series.
Oh go ahead and talk about the injuries, which are excuses. Sixers wear teams down to the point of injury. Watch this series, Sixers-Celts, somebody will be going down and out for the remainder of the series. Especially this green old withering willow.
    Watch and see.

Celts are indeed older team but at 35 Garnett seems to be the hottest player right now.

Ain't nothing but a number as they say

    UPDATE

Celtics reserve swingman Mickael Pietrus said he will require arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right knee this summer, but said the pain is not enough to keep him from participating in the playoffs.

....and surely good news for whoever wins these playoffs:

An MRI on Monday showed Chris Bosh suffered an abdominal strain and the Miami Heat have ruled him out indefinitely. The team is operating under the belief he'll miss the rest of the playoff series with the Indiana Pacers.

    you know nothing about basketball.

The Chicago Bulls lost the league MVP, had an all star (Deng) playing with a torn tendon, had a borderline all star player in Noah out, and had Gibson banged up too.

No team in NBA history can survive that loss of talent. None. It isn't an excuse, the reality is, the 76ers beat a team depleted by injuries... and they BARELY did it.

I know a lot about NBA basketball, and keep making excuses. 1) Need your excuse from last night. 2) If you knew anything about playoff basketball, that was not an ugly game, it was a BEAUTIFUL game. Defense is what makes it in the playoffs, particualrly in the East. You are't the only one that calls it UGLY basketball, I believe you're just following the herd. 3) Charles Barkeley and Shaq are both phucking idiots in their assesments of NBA gmes.

    4) Bottom Line Sixers in 6 and will move on. Start getting your excuses ready for the next game and series.

That was an ugly game. Defense didn't make the celtics miss wide open jumpers from the baseline. Rondo made terrible decisions all night, he needs to take it to the basket. Ray Allen sucked donkey dick. Brandon Bass wouldn't start on my rec league team. Where the **** was Pierce?

I love good defense, it wins championships. The Celtics offense was ugly regardless of who was covering them.
