Sore Thumb Team Total: May 9th

Astros Team Total Over 3.5 [-105]
Houston gets a shot at a floundering Josh Johnson. JJ has allowed 11 ER over his last eight innings pitched. He is also 0-3 in four starts vs. HOU with a career ETA of 5.82. Most of those numbers are from at least two years ago, but his ERA is 5.25 in two starts @ Minute Maid Park. The Astros offense has been limited the last two nights by Zambrano & Sanchez, but had scored at least four runs in the first five games of their current home stand before floundering the last three. Batters are hitting .359 against Johnson this season and the opposition has ended with four runs or more now in four of the six games started by JJ.

Why not? Until JJ proves he's anything more than a shell of his former self, hammer it.

Indeed man. It's one thing if he's getting hit hard by good teams, but the Padres ... Padres killed him last time out.

Plus, the Stros have a bunch of pesky hitters who should drive a struggling pitcher nuts.
