Agree to disagree on this one. I think you're crazy actually. Bench was BY FAR the best defensive catcher of all time and had very similar offensive numbers to kaline. I'd listen to arguments that bench was top 5-10 all time simply because of his position. Until piazza came along he was the best defensive AND offensive player at his position all time. No one else could say that.

Except Berra was better offensively so Bench could never say that.

Well 1) that's not true. Baseball reference has bench rated much higher as an objective measure. And 2) Berra had plenty of games in the outfield so IMO he'd have to be markedly better to be considered a better offensive catcher. Bench didn't get a "day off" like yogi did.

Common bro I'm not that silly

And I really can't think of a definitively better Yankee than mattingly to put at 10. Rizzuto? No. Ellie Howard? Maybe but no. Winfield? Maybe. Posada? No. Maris? No. Munson? No. Who am I missing?

First off, you can't compare pitchers to position players. Secondly, it's hard to compare Jeter to other players because of the intangibles he provides. Jeter is also not a power hitter. How do you value RBI's, slugging, and home runs? Jeter is clearly one of the best SS of all time. Lets just leave it at that. Comparing pitchers or power hitters to Jeter doesn't make sense.

Don't forget steals. Jeter quitely has swiped 340 bags during his career.

by the way idk if u guys know this ...but the MLB helped out the hitters so much in the later years then before

    pitching mounds were lowered
    fences were brought in
    baseballs are being stitched tighter
All 3 of these things help out the batter so much (CANT EVEN NAME THE STEROID ISSUE)

    how about this stat

babe ruth pitched for 5 years
joe dimaggio missed 3-4 years of his prime to serve in the armed forces
lou played with broken bones almost his entire career
mantle thought he was going to die at the age of 40 and became an alcoholic and didnt care about his own health

top 4 yankees are these 4 ... then you have to skip a few lines just to put jeter there ...

    1 babe ruth
    2 mantle
    3 dimaggio
    4 lou

    10 jeter

so far apart cuz you cant even compare players

First 12
