Injuries slowed him. As far as the Hall goes he's definitely in. Dale Murphy was a great player too, clutch clean up batter.

Not a Bravo fan by any stretch.....BUT...
If a bum like Ron "Pizza Man" Santo gets the sympathy nod to the H.O.F.,
    then Chipper should be all-in.

yea, he was absolutely in 3 years ago when this thread was started as well, Chipper really hasn't even made that much noise in the last 3 years with the exception to this years start.

    Trollers gonna troll

So we can't use stats to show why one guy is better then let's consider that Murphy hasn't and won't ever sniff the hall of fame. Chipper is a lock. But thank god you're here to make sure that we know they've got it all wrong

I think tt is quite possibly the dumbest person on the Internet

When Ted T owned the Braves... Dale was the only player who could not be traded by team management

It had to get Ted T's personal Ok

So you admit one guy is a hall of famer and the other guy isn't but the guy who isn't is the better player

    Classic tt ass backwards logic

Dale Murphy belongs in the "hall of very good" with guys like joe carter, Dwight Evans and Reggie smith.

Jones debuted in 1993, and has played his entire career with the Atlanta Braves. Chipper won the 1999 National League Most Valuable Player Award, as well as the 1999 and 2000 National League Silver Slugger Award for third basemen. He currently holds the Braves team record for career on base percentage (.406), and on July 5, 2007, he passed Dale Murphy for third place on the Braves all-time career home runlist.
In his career, through the 2011 season, Jones is a .304 hitter with 454 home runs, 1,455 walks, and 1,561 RBI in 2,387 games. He is behind only Eddie Murray on the all-time switch hitters career RBI list. He is considered one of the game's best all-around hitters, and one of the best switch hitters in the history of the game.[1][2] He is the only switch hitter in Major League Baseball history to have a .300+ career (.304 at the end of the 2011 season) batting average and 400 or more home runs.
As of the 2012 season, Jones is the most senior active MLB player to have spent his entire career with one club, playing with the Braves for 19 consecutive seasons

Larry gets in on the 1st ballot, and this is coming from a phillies fan who hates the braves.

    Nice bump.

In the 2 and 1/2 years since this thread was posted in Sept 09, Chipper has improved his career stats by: 240 more hits, 35 more HR's, 139 more RBI's, and his avg dropped from .308 to .304. He battled injuries over this time. He needs 367 more hits for 3,000, and 41 more HR's for 500.

    1st ballot, IMO
