    Guys on first and second, Pads bunting. Inside throw looked to hit the batter and go foul, but the home plate ump said it was off the bat and fair! Triple play ensues.

    the bunt landed behind home plate and all the padres on the bases stopped playing baseball, then the umpire suddenly called it fair, and the dodgers whipped it around and got them all out

    your wrong. The call was 100% correct. By rule if a ball is foul in the batter box and has not touched a player or gone outside the lines of the box AND THE BALL IS MOVING, the catcher can wait for the ball to enter the playing field and make a play on it. Thats exactly what the dodgers catcher Ellis did, he waited for it to go fair. Sort of like the opposite of if a ball is fair and then goes foul. 100% correct on this. Feel free to look it up in the rule book. Completely legit play

    he didnt call it foul, he was jumping out of the way because he perceived the ball was going to hit him. When he did this his arms appeared to go up, however his arms never signaled foul call in this sudden motion. But yes, i see how it could be perceived a foul call

    I think the funniest part is the fact that the "bunt" was a pitch way inside off the handle with the batter trying to get out of the way. The umpire unable to make his mind and ensuing triple play was just hilarious.

    Probably the ugliest triple play in history.

    he did call if foul. at the start he had his hands up to move out of the way, but then he made a second more pronounce jester with his arm up that would indicate foul.

    The arm motion was less than perfect if not plain bad. But it was the right call. If the players would have advanced on a no call or fair call it still would have been a triple killing. Dumb to bunt in that situation anyway.

    My point is once the ball is called dead it's not fair for a ref in any sport to change his mind And the ump clearly called the ball dead. Even if it was an accidental hand motion it should count. It's Kinda unfair to the team hitting if the ump can make hand motions similar to a foul call then go sorry i was swatting at flies. Another question way the hell was he even making any hand motions at all?
