Phillies at Marlins - Sep 7th

    Phade Phish vs Phils

    By: Marc Lawrence

Still celebrating last night's no-hitter by rookie Anibal Sanchez, now's a good time to bet their opposition tonight when they take on the Phillies.

The Fish are still jumping out of the water following last night's no-hit win over the Phillies.

With Jon Lieber in terrific current KW form, look for him to improve to 14-4 lately in his team starts from September out here tonight when the Phils take on Josh Johnson and Florida.

    Play: Phillies

    Marlins to continue ride

The Marlins kept their incredible late charge going with a no-no last night, and there's no reason to jump off their ride tonight.

I'm laying the price with the Marlins on Thursday. Last night's no-hit winner by the Marlins extends their incredible, turn-around run to 59-38 since their 11-31 start!

Florida is now tied with the Phillies, just 2½ games behind the Padres for the wildcard lead. Tonight, Josh Johnson takes to the bump. The Marlins have been unbeatable with the righty on the hill, cashing all five of his starts since August 11.

Besides the fact that he's operating with a season-long 2.99 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, he's also getting a ton of offensive support as of late. The Fish are averaging 7.8 RPG in his last five outings. The lineup has had little trouble against Jon Lieber, Johnson's opposition for Philadelphia. Since the start of 2005, Lieber has been tagged for four ER or more in five of seven games against Florida. This season, the Marlins have pounded Lieber for 17 ER and 29 BR in just 17-2/3 IP, for an 8.64 ERA and 1.64 WHIP.

Look for the Marlins to continue their red-hot run with Johnson on the hill.

    Play: Marlins -130

The public will be all over the Marlins because all they remember is the no hitter. I will take the Phillies.
