Yankees vs. Royals

Mike RoseShockingly, the Royals posted a 5-0 shut-out over the Yankees last night after dropping the first game of the series in heartbreaking fashion.

Starter Jorge De La Rosa shut out the New York Yankees for 5 2-3 innings Tuesday night and then Todd Wellemeyer finished up for a 5-0 victory, the Royals' first blanking of the AL East leaders in more than three years.

Just 24 hours earlier, a bullpen collapse had led to a 10-run Yankees' eighth in a 12-5 Kansas City loss. What a difference a day makes!!! Anyway, look for both squads bats to be out tonight. New York was 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position last night, and will make a conscious effort of taking care of business this evening.

The Yankees, who lead the major leagues in scoring, were blanked for just the third time this season and their AL East lead was cut to eight games over second-place Boston. Not a cause for alarm, but the Yankees don't go down to the royals in shut-out fashion too often. Look for them to dish out some payback this evening.
