beltran was a great signing. it was only a 2 year deal and he gets on base.

much better than paying pujols a 10 year contract.

don't get to crazy, gallardo had nothing today. only thing he had was the fast ball and cards were waiting and swinging on it.

I had Freese on all my fantasy teams as an undervalued sleeper last year and he effed me. This year I got Brett Lawrie at third base in the mid rounds.

just watch the production they get from these two. Beltran thrives in the 2 hole. he hasnt hit there since houston.

they will miss pujlos, don't forget about his defense they have berkman over there now right?

i still don't trust beltran is going to be anything but a good hitter.

still not convinced freese is going to be an mvp type player. has to do it through-out a full season, and through-out adjustments that are going to be made, not only to the way he is pitched, to to the way he is defended

beltran is much better than a hitter. he has an above average OBP which is more important than pure hitting anway. and his defense is fine for a corner outfield spot.

1st base isnt a premium defensive position. in fact it is the least important defensive position in terms of ability to play defensive.

Both those guys practically live on the DL. Just give it a little time they'll be right back on it soon.

its a 6 game stretch, you never good as you think when your high, and never as bad as you think when you are low. we have yet to see the 'real' cards. they will cool down, they will go through bad stretches. they sure have started off the season hot though.

The World Champ are going to thank the Angels someday for the favor they did. That contract is gonna be brutal for the Angels the last 6 years.

There is a reason the Cardinals are always good. They don't sign stupid contracts.

I'm a huge Cardinals fan and while I wish Pujols was still on he team, it was a smart move not giving him a 10 year contract web he is in his 30s.

That money will be better used.

Agree. There's really no point in giving any player a huge contract, outside of a bonafide No. 1 starting pitcher.

I would sign a closer to a long term deal, but how often does a player like Mariano Rivera come around? (blue jays fan)

That is nuts for me, giving a pitcher a long term contract. Pitchers have a much much much higher risk of being injured and missing whole seasons. Look at how many pitchers have tommy john surgeries?

I am just the opposite i would rather sign offensive players to long term deals. Obviously the amount per-year for Pujlos age is going to be questionable. but if angels win a world series, and compete every-year, it will pay out exponentially.

Brewers have Brauny locked up his whole career, and I would rather have him then an ACE anyday. Not saying that pitching doesn't mean more in the playoffs, you still need pitching. But as far as where my money would go first it would be in that top 5 players.
