    He's still the man!!

I know some of you hate his guts bet for someone like me that started watching baseball in the late 80's this is just the best player that we have ever seen... period.

Im rooting for him, and I would like to see him break Aaron's record. He's showing that when healthy he's as good a hitter as anyone else and that he can still have a great influence in the lineup...

22 HR in 308 at bats... I think that's pretty good for an old dude...

Anyway, just wanted to say that there's still a few Barry fans out there... regardless of all the roids shit...

    Keep it up big man!!!

Thats what everyone seems to think, that he would be a lot better off DH' ing in the AL. But he has said many times that he wants to finish his career as a Giant... so who knows...

Barry Bonds is Dan's all time favorite athlete. Trust me, he may say different, but I think he is just shy to admit it.

I'm sure bonds would love to stay as a Giant...but i'm not sure the Giants will to fork over so much money for a guy who cant play LF

    There's no argument:

Barry Bonds is the greatest baseball player of all time.

And who was your favorite baseball player growing up?? I can almost assure you that he too was a cheater. The fact is that steroids, amphetamines, and other performance enhancing drugs were riduculously rampant in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Barry Bonds has gotten all this unwanted attention because he used steroids on top of being a phenomenal "natural" baseball player and became a home run hitting freak. So yes, he cheated but so many other players did too that haven't had to go to court over it and haven't gotten nearly the media attention that Bonds has. But maybe that's because they weren't nearly the player Bonds was even before he started to juice up. Barry Bonds is a hall of famer, along with many, many other cheaters that are a part of the game's past, but hopefully not the future.

Might have taken 11 posts into the thread but we finally start getting some decent posts.

Dr.Phil - if you've got nothing better to do then why not start threads dedicated to me in the Private Forum and you can bitch away to your heart's content? And additionally it reduces the crap quota on the main forums - it's a win-win scenario for everyone here. Just a thought.

Yeah, let's get back to your boy Bonds.

Whatever you think about him, whatever you think he might or might not have done you he's still one of the top players out there despite his age. You've got A-Rod coming into the season aged 30 currently on 31 homers from 513 at bats. And 41 year old Bonds on 22 homers from 311 at bats. If he was fully fit, wasn't getting injured and was able to play full games instead of getting pulled half way through then he'd be approaching MVP quality. Pretty amazing for someone over 40.

What I'm saying is that assuming he's not on roids now (not that it has been proved that he has ever been) and assuming that he could keep fully fit for the season then he'd be out-numbering A-Rod. Which is a pretty good achievment for an old git like that. You know you agree with me.

Disagree with what? If he could play a full season (made easier by DH-ing) then he'd be matching A-Rod for numbers. He's matching him already pro-rata.

    After A-rod is done...
He'll be up there numberwise with Bonds. And I mean not only HR but average and SB...
Two very complete athetes that have taken far too much $hit than they deserved...
I see what Taco is saying about Bonds... I really wish to see him healthy and DH'ing next year...
Im pretty sure he could put up Papi Like numbers... at least in stolen bases..
By the way, this guy Dr Phil has some problems dude...
Why would anyone start a thread on you... well someone did... in the private section... just calm down bro, this is a nice place and you're messing up the chemistry around here...
