Greg Maddux (11-11, 4.25 ERA) toes the rubber tonight for the Dodgers.
The veteran right-hander is 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA against Cincinnati this season, but three of those wins came while he was with the Chicago Cubs. On Aug. 3, Maddux made his Los Angeles debut against Cincinnati and pitched six hitless innings in a 3-0 victory, but was replaced after a 46-minute rain delay.
Maddux is 2-0 with a 2.32 ERA in five starts with his new team, but is coming off his worst start as a Dodger. He allowed four runs on 10 hits over five innings of a 9-7, 15-inning loss to Arizona on Friday.
Reds starter Aaron Harang (13-9, 3.67) tops the hill tonight for Cincinnati.
The right-hander looks to become the NL's fourth 14-game winner and end his recent road struggles.
Harang is 1-4 with a 4.50 ERA in his last six outings away from Great American Ball Park, since winning three straight road starts from June 2-23.
Despite his recent woes, Harang's 2.75 road ERA for the season is the lowest in the NL. Harang is 1-2 with a 5.30 ERA in three career starts versus the Dodgers.
The bottom line is both pitchers have been pitching supeb over the last month and that should continue tonight.
