who will trade for david wells ?

they just announced that wells cleared waivers, and there are alot of clubs out there that need pitching help during this streach run.

i'm thinking the reds might be the front runner, because they seem to have been the most active since the trade deadline.

they went from sellers back to buyers late in the race.

They can say anything they want but Im sure they would love to have Abreu there for this stretch... That middle of the lineup with Howard and Utley would look scary...

looks like the latest news on the teams that want to trade for Wells is:

    SD
    ST.Louis
    Dodgers

if these 3 teams are considered the front runners right now, I see the Dodgers getting him.

    I dont think so bbd
You could say that the Dodgers are the team that less needs him from that list.
After what Mulder has shown the Cards should be greatly concerned...

    I just read this...
It doesnt seem likely that Mulder will pitch again this year. Not big loss the way he's been pitching but it's something the Cards have to address quickly if they're gonna have a chance.
On another note I read Edmonds is not sure when he might be ready to play either although Im sure he's gonna be ready when it counts...

Yeah thats their only choice right now but Im sure they're looking at tomorrows deadline and thinking about making a move...
They need another good pitcher if they are gonna have any chance of beating NY...
Either that or Reyes pithching in top form, like his first starts of the season...

Wells might fair better in the NL, but I can't imagine any team wanting to pick this guys up. Boston needs to get rid of him.

in the heat of a race teams do strange things.

the one thing that gets me though is, i believe wells has 1 more year left on his contract. if thats the case teams would be crazy to trade for him at his advanced age, not to mention the price tag.

I expect him to land with the Padres or Dodgers.

When I heard it, they didnt say who Boston got in return. This was on the Blue Jays/Red Sox telecast on INHD. They just said Wells did in fact got traded to the Padres.
