White Sox at Tigers - Aug 23rd

    Short On Runs In Motown

Tonight's Garcia-Miner matchup in Detroit between the ChiSox and Tigers means the Smart Play is on the under.

Freddy Garcia, the White Sox starting pitcher in today's contest against the Tigers in Detroit, has had an up-and-down campaign, but has pitched very well against the Tigers this season going 2-0 with a 4.26 ERA.

He is 13-5 with a 3.65 ERA lifetime when facing this Motown franchise.

His pitching opponent, young Zach Miner for the Tigers, has also been very reliable hurler for his team and has not allowed more than four earned runs in his last five starts. Considering tonight's pitching matchup, and the fact that these teams have played under the total in 12-straight meetings, it will be easy decision for me recommend backing this contest to stay on the low side of the number.

    Play: UNDER 9½

    ChiSox & Tigers: Over

    By: Scott Rickenbach

Tonight's Garcia-Miner matchup in Detroit should have the White Sox and Tigers scoring plenty of runs.

Rookie Zach Miner has struggled in his home starts this season with a .333 BAA and a 5.35 ERA. The White Sox just saw him ten days ago and should enjoy more success the second time around.

This is also a tough spot for the young Tigers hurler as this is a key game in "crunch time," and the 24-year-old Miner will feel the pressure. Look for the White Sox offense to bounce back from some recent dismal performances.

The Tigers' offense should continue their decent run as they've scored 17 runs over their last three games. Even though Freddy Garcia, Chicago's starter, has enjoyed success in his career against Detroit, this will be the fourth opportunity this season for the Tigers to face him. Familiarity generally leads to success for the hitters.

Note that Garcia is just 1-4 in his last 5 decisions and has allowed 83 hits over his last 64 innings of work. The Chisox starter has proven to be very hittable and we expect both lineups to enjoy success tonight.

    Play: OVER 9½

The White Sox bats are cold, but they have hit Miner this season. Garcia was looking good recently, but resorted back to his old self in his last start. I think the over is the safer bet tonight.
