Fishing For A Run Line Play

A battle between rookie hurlers in today's Nats-Fish contest looks to favor Florida on a run line play.

Josh Johnson (11-6, 2.84 ERA), the Marlins' starting hurler today against the Nationals, has been a consistent cog in his team's rotation all season long allowing more than four earned runs only once in his last 19 starts. The right-hander has allowed just two earned runs against Washington this season spanning 7+ innings of work.

His pitching opponent from the Nationals, rookie Jason Bergman (0-1, 7.31 ERA) who has pitched mostly in relief this season, is a subpar-looking thrower and not one of my favorite pitchers at this point in his career.

With that said and considering how poorly the Nationals play on the road losing 21 of their last 28 it will be easy decision backing the Fish against the runline in this spot.
