A Motown Under

Detroit's the site for tonight's big White Sox-Tigers contest, and the pitching matchup has the 'under' looking strong.

A huge four game set kicks off this evening as the White Sox invade Motown to take on the AL Central division leading Tigers. Coming into this matchup, the Tigers currently hold a 5.5-game lead in the Central, while the Sox hold onto a 1-game lead in the AL Wild Card race.

The Tigers just lost three in a row at home to the Rangers, and most recently saw a large lead evaporate just yesterday en route to the 7-6 loss. The White Sox lost two of three in Minnesota as well, but have been playing better overall ball than the Tigers the last two weeks. Detroit has dropped seven of their last 10 while the defending champs have taken six of their last 10.

As good as Detroit has been this year, the White Sox have flat out owned them. They most recently swept them right out of Chicago, and have won nine of their 12 meetings this year, including four of their six meetings at Comerica in Detroit.

Tonight marks the third time this season both Justin Verlander and Jose Contreras square off. The Sox have won the first two meetings by 5-0 and 4-3 counts. Both tilts fell comfortably under the closing number, and I'm seeing the exact same story ring true tonight. With this being Verlander's third start since being skipped in the rotation to rest his arm, I expect to see his best outing tonight. Look for a closely contested ball game this evening with both pitchers excelling in this hurler friendly park.

The under has cashed in nine of the last 12 Tiger home games!

Play: Under 9
