    Another Under In San Diego

Less than stellar offenses and reasonably competent pitchers point to the UNDER being tonight's play at Petco Park.

    By: Ganchrow Sports

Night games at Petco have gone under at a 60% clip this season (22-15), and especially so in August, as the grind of the season seems to be having a negative effect on hitters trying to force runs in this spacious park. In August, all seven of the games at Petco have gone under the total. This game offers more of the same, and with a relatively high total of 8.5 being offered, there is little reason to think the results will be any different.

Both starting pitchers for tonight are competent. San Diego starter Chan Ho Park is very mediocre, but also usually has a reasonable start. He is not likely to be pushed much by the San Francisco lineup, and his recent time off with an illness will probably give his arm a boost for this game.

San Francisco starter Noah Lowry is a better version of Park. He can be iffy at times, but usually delivers a solid outing. Although he is in a dangerous statistical spot here, off of a high pitch count and with only four days of rest, he is still likely to have a decent start.

The offenses involved just don't bring much to the table. San Francisco's lineup is ill-suited to high production at Petco. Aging and lacking speed, their ability to manufacture runs is limited. San Diego's lineup is average and less productive at home.

The first two games in this series went easily under. With comparable circumstances for this game, and a total that offers a bit of breathing room, there is value on the side of the under.

    Play: UNDER 8.5 (-120)

Both offenses are in limbo right now, but the last time these two pitchers faced off the over soared over.
