Mariners at Athletics - Aug 15th

M's and A's Return to Under

After just getting over the line last night, Seattle and Oakland should revert back to their low-scoring ways in this one

These teams sneaked OVER the total by half a run last night, but the UNDER is still 10-4-1 in the last 15 Seattle road games and we expect a return to that form here.

Kirk Saarloos is coming off of one of his worst starts of the season for the Athletics vs. Detroit, but he had reeled off four consecutive quality starts prior to that and we see no reason why he cannot bounce back here. Saarloos has already proven that he can handle this Seattle lineup, posting an impressive 2.07 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in his last three starts against the Mariners. He is backed by a fine Oakland bullpen that ranks fourth in the Major Leagues in pen ERA.

Now granted Pineiro is having an off year, but it is not as if he has no ability as he has managed three quality starts in his last five outings. Pineiro actually has excellent stuff when he is on, and he benefits here from facing an Oakland lineup that is batting just .243 vs. right-handed pitching at home this year. Like Saarloos, Pineiro also has a very good bullpen supporting him as the Mariners have now moved up to seventh in the majors in pen ERA.

    Play: Under 9.5 (-115)

i really can't make a case from the over in this game. the M's aren't exactly a scoring machine this year IMO.
